Regina
The New Realm
It still shocked me to my core how my son had grown in only a few short years, one minute I was watching him ride away on a motorcycle, then two months later he is a fully grown adult, with little need for his mother.
Zelena was off living her life with her newfound fiancé off in New York, however her spirited daughter found city life quite dull compared to the freeing air of the forest, making my heart constrict at how much of her father was still in her. I vowed to keep an eye on the young teenager, but she also rarely needed it, rarely being the main idea. Like all of us she found herself in messes and trouble, that I was always happy to help her out of.
"Auntie!" I heard her cry out, her voice ringing in my ears as I sat with my son and his expectant wife at the dinner table, making my head snap over in the direction of her cries.
"It's Robyn." Henry declared, also grabbing his sword and shield while Jacinda struggled to her feet. "No, you stay." I insisted towards both of them, but he shook his head at me, nodding at his wife to keep watch over the camp.
I quickly grabbed my son's hand and waved my own, making myself appear beside a creek, my niece bent over a washed up man who looked as if he were no more than four or five years older than her. "He's not breathing!" She cried, making me discard my sword beside me, both Henry and I rushing towards the man.
"Henry, make sure she's alright." I muttered mindlessly, crouching over the unconscious man that she refused to leave, making me sigh and run a hand over him with my magic. I waited a minute and quickly rose as he began to cough up mouthfuls if water.
"Kids get back, we don't know who he is." I warned, pushing the both of them behind me, ignoring the fact that my son was about two heads taller than me. I formed a fireball and waited for him to attack, poised to defend my cubs.
"Wait!" He coughed, scrambling to his feet with his hands in the air, pushing his wet mop of curls back with one hand while keeping the other raised.
"Who are you?!" Robyn demanded, making me hastily turn to silence her, but she already had a bow drawn and poised to shoot. The young man looked shocked, almost entranced with us, making my stomach twist as I pressed myself closer to Robyn and Henry.
"Roland. It's me! Gina-."
"It is your majesty to you!" Robyn cried fiercely, but my own mouth was hanging with shock as I stared at the grown man in front of me. I barely recognized him, but as I looked closer I could tell that he was Robin's son. I had scoured every realm in search for him, but I had missed them each time, only cutting the wound deeper into my heart.
My niece's words were getting jumbled in my own head and I could barely comprehend their fight until I felt an arrow fly past me and land into Roland's side.
"Roland!" I shrieked, the same sound that came from my lips when I got the call that Henry had been poisoned, when I saw the flatline on the screen, when I thought he was gone to me.
"Roland, no! No no no!" I cried urgently, rushing to his side before he could reach the ground, Henry behind me with the same amount of fear and urgency that I held. "Regina?" He sputtered, blood wetting his lips as he wheezed for a breath, his trembling hand reaching up to brush against my cheek.
"Hi baby." I whispered softly, adjusting his weight onto my legs while I focused, waving my hand over the wound in his side. Nothing happened and I could feel my heart hammering inside my chest as I whipped around at Robyn. "What arrow is that?!" I demanded, harsher than I meant. My niece shuddered and held it up, her mouth running dry with panic.
