Snow

A loud pounding on my door jolted me awake and caused my heart to slam like a running train in my chest due to shock and fear. I squinted my tired eyes to try and read my clock without my glasses, but David just groaned and clicked the lamp on.

"Twelve thirty." He grumbled, clearly more of a morning person, meaning he needed his full eight hours of rest. "I got it." I said with a yawn, pulling my pink robe over my furry pajamas that Roland had purchased me for my birthday due to the colorful birds on the fabric.

I pulled the door open to find a distraught Regina on the other side, the creaking of the door making her jump and fluster. She hastily wiped the running tears off her cheeks and chewed on her bottom lip. I looked down and observed the same blue dress that she had been wearing earlier that day, and her hair was tousled as if she hadn't slept in days. Her makeup had been smudged and I knew something was wrong, making my worry increase.

"Robin and I got into a fight...he left and I didn't know where to go." She admitted quietly, her voice only wavering slightly, but I could tell that it wouldn't remain strong for long.

"Regina where are the kids?" I asked urgently, knowing she could be impulsive when she got upset, but she just shook her head at me and began to sob. "It's Emma's week and Zelena has Roland and Bea." She cried, catching me off guard since a tear rarely fell from this woman's eye in front of me, so I knew it had to be something worth getting upset about.

"Okay, well come in, I'll make a cup of tea."

...

I carefully handed the hot mug over and watched as she cradled it mindlessly, her thoughts clearly somewhere else as she replayed what had gone on in her head.

"Wanna talk about it?" I asked, watching her swallow and nod, painful tears now openly falling down her cheeks.

"Regina it's okay, you can tell me anything, I promise." I urged, gently placing a hand on her knee to catch her attention, she looked up with her big brown eyes and nodded, her face crumbling.

"He found out I killed his wife."

I quietly crept into the master suite, checking my watch to double check the time. Work had run late and then Jefferson insisted that drinks were a must after a heavy case in the sheriff office, much to Regina's annoyance.

I blinked my eyes as they adjusted to the dark, but the light hastily flicked on, revealing my wife who was angrily tapping her foot on the carpet, her heels discarded beside her, but she was still done up in my favorite outfit of hers, the blue dress with the black ribbon that tied in the back.

"Oh, hi." I managed, watching her eyes water angrily and fill with annoyance. "I went out." I managed, feeling her eyes burn into my chest with annoyance and anger. "And you seemed to have ignored my texts." She grumbled, now letting a rogue tear fall down her cheek as she stood to face me.

"Robin, I let Emma start her weekend with Henry early and Zelena already came to get Bea and Roland so we had the house to ourself remember! We were going to try tonight!" She cried in frustration, making me sober up a bit and turn to face my wife.

"Zelena has Roland and Bea?!" I cried, horrified that the red headed nightmare was now babysitting our children, and that my wife would let them go with her unsupervised. I was always around to see the kids off when they switched weeks, but the fact that she took them early made my stomach twist.
