“Are we going to get dinner with them both” I questioned to Ashley as she was on loud speaker.
“Yeah it’s for Dylan’s birthday” she replied.
I tried to be as quiet as I could although I was forcefully searching through my wardrobe for an outfit to wear.
“Okay so I’ll walk round to yours in about an hour?” I promised.
“See you then, oh yeah and Neave?”
I looked at my phone as I tried squeezing into my black skinny jeans.
“Yeah?”
“Stop stressing, you look good in anything” she assured me.
That ladies and gents is my best friend, the one who manages to calm you down and make you feel good about yourself with a simple sentence.
I smiled before replying to her. “Love ya”
I ended the phone call and began looking at different long necklaces that would go with my outfit. I knew I wanted to wear my long white vest top on top of the skinny jeans with my cuffed black leather jacket. This was definitely an ankle boot outfit. I threw the converses behind me as I searched the bottom of my wardrobe for my dark grey ankle boots.
~ At the restaurant ~
It was perfect; more people came than expected though so it wasn’t just the four of us.
We were all put on a circle for a table.
Stefan next to me, me next to Dylan, Dylan next to Taylor, Taylor next to Ashley, Ashley next to Frankie and Frankie next to Stefan.
The waitress took down all of our orders after walking away and leaving us all to carry on with our conversations.
“Neavah, got something to share with us?” Taylor proposed.
“Course I do” I grinned, knowing that he only did this to try and see what Dylan’s reaction would be.
Ashley grinned at me in return but whispered a ‘sorry’ at me when nobody was looking at her.
Everyone all looked at me expecting me to hurry up and explain what Taylor is speaking about.
“I got offered to do a month abroad in a different country at the end of this month” I smiled slightly, awaiting their reactions and couldn’t tell whether they would be good or not.
They all did sit in silence for a little bit before congratulating me, I wasn’t too sure whether that was good or bad.
The waitress brought our food over to us all and we were already digging in.
Ashley nodded her head at me. “Whatever feels right please makes sure that’s what you do”
“Okay mum” I smiled back at her.
Just thinking about a month without Dylan seemed impossible to me.
Not seeing Ashley will kill me, she’s my best friend and I need her more than she needs me.
We were here for about an hour before we left, not too long but long enough I suppose.
On the way back to Taylor and Dylan’s cars we all walked together, reminiscing about the lodge and what an amazing time we all had there.
Taylor and Ashley both got into the front seats of Taylor’s car. Frankie and Stefan both sat inside Dylan’s.
Dylan and I were both stood between the cars alone.
It was as if we were both sandwiched between our friends and I could see on his face that he didn’t like that.
“We will have to meet up soon” he promised.
“I know I miss spending time with you” I smiled with my reply.
In the car back to mine all I could do was think about today, the trip we had before and just how far things have come since then.
“Neavie, I had a chat with Dylan” Taylor admitted to both me and Ashley.
Ashley turned in her front seat so she was looking at Taylor and me.
Taylor looked back using his rear-view mirror.
“What happened?” I stopped looking out the window and moved closer to the both of them, never wore my seat belt in the car anyway.
“He told me that he likes you and he wants to spend more time with you” he promised.
I looked at Ashley and then back at Taylor with a curious face, biting my bottom lip and with my right eye-brow raised.
“Why do I sense that you are going to say but?”
“Because I am” he replied.
“Continue” Ashley demanded
“But he’s not ready to gain feelings for someone yet”
“What? What do you mean?” I frowned
“He doesn’t want a relationship and he can’t help how he feels, but he can stop something like that from happening”
Ashley looked at me as I leaned back into the seat.
“Don’t take it the wrong way” Ashley whispered.
“Well there’s no other way to take it, is there?” I questioned.
Taylor shook his head.
“I suppose not” Ashley said, shrugging her shoulders at me and then turning back into her seat.
From the looks of it we were all bothered.
“It doesn’t mean there isn’t hope because Dylan says one thing but does the other, but at the minute it is just not an option for him”
I nodded a reply. “One day” I smiled.
I saw them both smile, probably hoping the same. Well I know Ashley wanted me and Dylan to be together. I also knew that Taylor did as well; otherwise he wouldn’t be constantly making me admit how I feel and pushing us together.
“Here we are Neavie, when will we see you again?” Taylor asked.
“As soon as possible” I promised.
Ashley gave me a huge cuddle as soon as I got out of the car and climbed back in as I walked into my house.
I knew it for sure; I knew that I wanted Dylan in my life, whether he wants to be my friend or something more. I also knew that my life had changed since I’d been seeing him, it’s much better than before and I wouldn’t change it for anything.
That’s what I know.
