Back here again, this time I was leaving even though Dylan wanted me. All that was running through my head over and over again was, ‘Neavah you can stay’ but ‘Neavah you need to go’. Choosing between my life in Spain with Oliver compared to my life here with Dylan and all of our friends was the hardest thing you could ever imagine doing, Dylan was someone that I spent so much time waiting for, working for and building a relationship with.
I waved one final goodbye to everyone before turning my back to everyone and walking towards the check-in desk.
“Neavah” I heard my name being shouted over all the noise from people surrounding me.
I turned around and saw Dylan running from behind Ashley and everyone else.
“Dylan” I chuckled as I grabbed his shoulders to stop him and catch his breath.
He bent forward with both hands on his knees trying to breathe properly.
“Neavie-Anna, don’t go” he begged.
I looked back at the check-in desk which was open for at least 5 more minutes.
“If we’re meant to be we will be Dylan” I promised.
I was smiling, I was excited to go but at the same time, all I ever wanted was for Dylan to chase me back.
He shook his head at me. “I was never ready for this; I can never face someone like you leaving”
“I know, I know” I paused before quoting my beautiful best friend Ashley. “Beautiful hearts do not get broken by beautiful people. I’m not breaking your heart, I’m saving it. Like you did to me” I assured him.
He held onto both of my hands. “I need this, I’ll miss this” he assured me back.
I nodded and smiled at him, making him smile too. “I love you” I admitted.
Although I admitted it before, this seemed a little more appropriate.
“Then stay” he moaned
“I need to go, for me and for you” I responded smiling at him. “Don’t think for a second I am doing this because you didn’t help me at all because you did. You Dylan Whitethorn gave me all the courage in the world to actually get up and go”
He paused before replying.
“Okay?” I questioned.
He nodded a reply to me. “Okay”
I was about to say goodbye to him, but as my lips opened to speak he let go off my hands and just started kissing me at the check-in desk.
“You are my inspiration” I promised.
“I…..love…..you” He said as he held both of my cheeks softly with his hands, looking me in my blue eyes with his green watered eyes.
Hearing him say that made my eyes water too.
The breath he took between each word showed how much emotion, how much power was in the words that he said and to be quite honest, I felt him touch my heart and I knew that I would never forget this moment.
“Miss Neavie-Anna, good bye” he said.
“Good bye Dylan” I smiled after my reply.
That was it. I turned my back and walked to the check-in desk.
I placed one ear phone into my ear and felt the weight that was pushing on my heart just stay behind as I walked away from everyone.
The look on Dylan’s face as I walked up the stairs was the most heartbreaking thing that you could imagine. I watched as our friends walked towards him and comforted him as we both knew that this would be it.
