William Shakespeare had the greatest opportunity to share a quote with the world that touched a million souls, because it was honest and pure. He did it. He shared that quote and he made us question everything.
- “In that beautiful moment of falling in love with someone, nothing means more than having the person you fell in love with, acknowledging and encouraging your love for them”
Now this is valuable because we all know that the heart wants, what the heart wants and if the heart is ever lucky enough to want you back, and then it’s something you should grab with both of your hands. I, however, do not believe in love or falling in love. It makes me different, unique because I do not experience the beautiful quote that William Shakespeare shared; I just see it with friends, with family, with society.
I am Neavah-Anna Marie Collins, but people call me Neavie, my parents thought it would be suitable to double-barrelled first name. So I exclude the ‘Anna’ part of ‘Neavah-Anna’ and just stick with Neavah. I’ve just finished my last year at college and the summer is here.
The summer would have to be the best time of the year, it is probably the only time of year where we gain some and we lose some. I often find friends, lose friends and share secrets that should have not been told. I know this because I for one have been through this, many, many times and it is not the most amazing experience.
“Miss Neavie, you still writing in that thing?” my best friend laughed as she snatched my diary from my hand.
I huffed at her before responding. “Well I was still writing in that thing” I shook my head at her, attempting to hold in my laugh.
For some reason the stubbornness that I would have felt for anyone else, was something that I didn’t feel for my best friend Ashley. We have both been best friends for about 7 years, so much has happened throughout those years, believe it or not we were in a group of friends that just consisted of girls. That ended throughout the summers and we just managed to stick by one another.
“You need to start packing, we have literally two days until we go away and I already have three bags packed” Ashley was always prepared a lot earlier than everyone else.
“Shouldn’t you have a suitcase seen as you are a birthday girl?” I grinned trying to speak to her through my teeth.
As I said, couldn’t hold in any emotions with Ash, she always knew what I felt and why I felt the way I did.
She held out my diary to me so that it was in my reach. “You are grumpy without this thing” she frowned.
As I took it out of her hand, her mood switched and she was suddenly happy too.
“Looks as if that goes both ways right?” I chuckled, her ignoring me again and starting to go through my wardrobe.
I looked towards the door as her boyfriend sneaked in and tried to keep quiet as she had her back to us both.
“BOO!” he shouted as he grabbed her waist.
“Taylor!” Ash shouted grabbing his hands that she had.
Tay and Ash have been together a lot longer than any other couple that I know, well from school anyway. Two years is a long time and they are still incredibly in love. I remember the love letters that he sent her last summer when he was away on holiday. He is perfect for her, literally brought her soul to life. When they first got together I remember he telling me about their first date when he said to her. “Let’s fall in love, let’s be adventurous together, and let’s just have fun” – it actually moved me because I knew that he meant it and that she accepted it.
Ashley skipped towards my bed, every time she saw Taylor she would get happier than happy, if that is possible? His eyes followed her until he looked at me and smiled.
I smiled back at him. “Are you alright Tay?” I said as I moved off my bed allowing Ashley to put my gym bag on there.
“Yeah I only wanted to stop by and say, but I have gotta run soon. Dylan is waiting for me to go to a BBQ with him” he said as he looked in the mirror and started playing with his hair, making it look more amazing, even though it already was amazing.
Ashley looked at me, then looked at Taylor and then back at me. Her face was had no expression, I think she was just waiting for him to notice her.
“Well where is my invite pretty boy?”
“Well where was my invite last week when you went bowling with Neavie?” he big back, you could tell he didn’t care though.
I continued packing my things not looking at any of them, because I knew that from the moment I did, I would just laugh.
“Oh, oh I see, so you don’t think me and Neavah are good enough company?” Ashley jumped to the gun, again!
I smiled as soon as she mentioned my name. “Do not bring me into this you two”
Both of them looked at me and then back at each other, I put some more clothes into my bag and chuckled a little.
“A little help N.C?” every time Taylor said that it made me laugh.
I zipped up my gym bag, which may I add – I packed all by myself and just sat on my bed looking at the both of them.
“Ash, no company is better than yours. Tay, no company is better than yours. Here we have discovered a perfect match of amazing company, don’t screw it over” I smiled.
They both had silly grins on their faces and I could tell the atmosphere was not as heated as it was a few seconds ago.
Ashley walked towards Taylor and passed him my gym bag.
He took it from her with a cheesy grin that made her laugh.
“So Neavah, Dylan will be there this weekend. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge”
Ashley was smiling as much as him.
“I’m happy to hear it” I replied with a smile.
Dylan Whitethorn is a beautiful boy, the most beautiful you have ever seen and a good friend to me. I haven’t long met him but already know so much about him and he knows so much about me too. I feel that with him, we are on the same page in terms of our friendship, but I already feel that I like spending my time with him and I like him.
“I’m going to go meet Dylan now”
He kissed Ashley’s cheek and ran out with the bag, leaving us to think about what he said.
Ash turned to me and had the cheekiest grin on her face; I know it was about Dylan and probably Taylor making her happy. But why was it about Dylan?
“Care to share what you are thinking with the class?” I smiled.
“No, you’ll find out” she promised.
