Dimitri was arriving at Court today. So, I dealt with it the best way I could: Punch the shit out of a puching bag. Then, I'll get ready. Maybe rehearse some lines to tell Dimitri. I walked into the empty gym, despite Lissa's orders for me to take it easy. Maybe this was bad, but I had to get it out of my system. I punched that fucking bag until I was sure the chains would give out. So, I gave it one kick... that caused me to fall down and scream in pain. I automatically worried that the baby was hurt. But, when the pain stopped, I got to my feet and ran into someone. I started to apologize before I realized who it was. Adrian.
"Are you following me?" I asked
"Yes" he was absolutely serious
"Why?" we started walking out of the gym
"Because I worry about you. Believe it or not, I'm not just trying to have sex with you"
I looked down and smiled. Maybe Adrian isn't as bad as I thought he was. He walked me to Lissa's place and sat down on the couch with me. Lissa was on the phone, pacing back in forth. She was trying to get the place ready. They must be at the gate or something. I took deep breaths once I realized what was happening. Surprisingly, Adrian squeezed my hand for comfort. I squeezed back, glad to have another supporter. Lissa ended her phone call, and sat in front of me. She took my hands in hers, and spoke in a soothing tone.
"Dimitri and Tasha arew at the gate now. Can you handle this?"
I nodded my head, unable to speak. I took a deep breath, and looked up. "I can. Thank you"
"Every step of the way"
As soon as she finished that sentence, the door bell rang. I stood up and walked to the door. I opened the door and put on my best fake smile. Tasha gave me a hug and said hello. I got a slight nod from Dimitri. He walked past me, not sparing a glance. Rude much? We all sat down in the living room. There was small talk, but that was about it. Lissa phone made that annoying sound that said I was supposed to do something. I turned to her.
"What now?"
She showed me the screen of her phone. I was supposed to take my pregnancy pills. Wonderful. I walked into the kitchen, knowing Lissa was worried about me. I opened the cabinet and pulled out the pills. I set them on the counter, and got water from the fridge. I took a sip of it before picking up the pills again. I heard someone come in, so I turned around. It was Dimitri. I realized I was still holding the pills a little too late. He reached out and grabbed them off of me. He raised his eyebrow, smirking at me.
"So, that's why the Princess wants us here? To tell us she's pregnant?"
I sighed. It was time to tell him. "They don't belong to Lissa. They're mine"
He froze. Then wore a pissed off expression. "How far along are you?"
"Three and a half months. Listen, I wanted to tell you, but-"
He cut me off, "Why do you need to tell me? I don't care that you and Adrian are together"
My jaw clenched. I bit my lip, trying not to scream. I opened my mouth, but I couldn't speak. I had to throw up. I turned to the sink, embarrased. Dimitri reacted quickly, and held my hair. After I was done, I rinsed out my mouth, and took my pill. Dimitri's mask slipped, and he looked worried. Maybe his love for me hasn't faded. It was really time to tell him.
"Dimitri, can we go for a walk?"
"Sure"
We excused ourselves, and walked through Court. I led him to a bench in the shade, and told him I had to sit down. My feet were hurting. I looked down, not wanting to meet his eyes. I didn't even know how to start this conversation. Maybe I do.
"Dimitri, we can still be friends, right?"
"Of course, Rose. I'm glad you took it well"
I let out a little laugh. "And, I can talk to you about anything, right?"
"Only if I can tell you something first"
"Go ahead"
"Tasha's pregnant with my child"
I froze. My world stopped. My baby was going to grow up without a father. I colsed my eyes, letting a tear slide down my cheek. I could only tell him one thing now: Adrian was the father. And, that's what I told him. I gave him a warm smile, and congratulated him. I got up, and walked away. I walked back to Lissa's, and swung the door opened. I went to the room I'm staying in, seeing as Lissa wants to keep an eye on me, and packed a weekend bag. I needed to get out of here. It was completely necessary. Lissa walked into the room, and smiled. When I didn't smile back, she worried. I finished packing and set my bag by the door. I got my pills from the kitchen, and a bottle of water to go.
"Rose, you are not leaving!" Lissa exclaimed
"Oh, do you want to come with me?"
"Of course"
"Well, I thought you might want to be here for Christian's aunt, seeing as Dimitri got her pregnant two months ago"
She walked over and hugged me. Then, she grabbed her keys, and went to pack her bags. I thought she would stay. I went back to my room, and packed more stuff, knowing it will be more than two days. When we finished packing, I went to go load the car. When I came back, Lissa was telling Christian she would be gone for a few days, and I protested against her coming once more, even though I knew I couldn't get her to stay. Christian seemed fine with it, as long as she called him every night. Then, she gave Tasha a little hug. No matter how she felt about Tasha, she had to be polite. I didn't think that was totally necessary, but okay. I walked out the door, bumping into Dimitri. He raised an eyebrow at me. Lissa stood by me, giving Dimitri a death glare. I walked out the door, and headed toward the garage.
I could hear Lissa talking to Dimitri. "You're an idiot" That was all she said before catching up with me.
I smiled, and let out a little laugh. She risked being impolite to him for my sake. She gave me a quick hug, before jumping into the car. I insisted on driving, and she let me.
"Where to?" I asked
"Um... Russia?"
"Really, Liss?"
"Really, Rose"
"Why?" I whined
"Because, you're baby needs more family than just me and Christian"
I sighed, and backed out. When I got to the gate, I told the guardians Princess Vasilisa needed to take a trip, and that I would be responsible for her. They didn't question much, and we left soon. Lissa reached back to get her bag, and pulled out her laptop. Once we got to the highway, I relaxed a little, and noticed Lissa was booking last minute plane tickets. As soon as the tickets were booked, her phone rang. She answered it, and, by her tone, I could tell it was Christian. When she hung up, she asked me a very good question.
"How are we finding Dimitri's family?"
"He lived in a, uh, family community. He told me the name of it once... It started with a B..."
"Baia?" she suggested
"That's the one, smarty. I can only remeber the name of one of his sisters: Viktoria. And, he has the witch-y grandma: Yeva"
"'Witch-y'?" she laughed. "Okay. So, we're looking for Viktoria and Yeva Belikova? That shouldn't be too hard. If 'witch-y' means local fortune teller, like Rhonda"
"Yeah, something like that"
The rest of the drive was in silence, except for the GPS telling me how to get to the nearest airport. It gave me time to think up a speech. This is what I have so far: Hi, my name is Rose Hathaway, and I used to date your son. Sort of. He was my mentor, and had sex with me when I was seventeen. Anyways, he ran off, and I'm pregnant. But, you can't tell him. I can she his mother slamming the door in my face now. Lissa was taking a nap, and the radio's volume wasn't too high. There was a lot of traffic, so I was driving carefully, trying not to slam on the breaks due to Lissa sleeping.
This trip is not going to be fun.
