True love?

I grew up reading stories and fairytales about true love

How Snow White and Sleeping Beauty woke up by a true love's kiss

how Ariel sacrificed her home to be with her true love,

and how a true love's kiss was everything Prince Adam needed to lift his curse.

I grew up in hopes of finding true love ignoring the real world and getting lost in all these fairy tales.

But the more I looked into real-life relationships, the more I noticed how fake and unrealistic these fairytales are.

And eventually, I realized the truth.

True love isn't the one you share with a boyfriend or a fiancé or a husband.

It's not about spending the rest of your life with someone.

True love is the love of a parent to a child and vice versa.

It is the love that siblings and best friends hold.

True love is about caring way too much and sacrificing your life for the other, it's about fearing their loss to a point that just the thought of it makes your heartache.

It's about actually having your heart broken for knowing that you lost this person for good.

True love isn't all butterflies and unicorns with happy endings. It doesn't bring you joy, it brings you miseries and heartaches.
