"So ... Hyung told you about Ji Han huh?"
I sat on the couch. I stared at her as she glanced away from the mirror. She was getting dressed up for her dinner with Ji Han and his grandmother. Nana wasn't it? I remember them calling her that.
"no, we met in high school. I first met Ji Han then Ji Soo"
Silence.
She wrapped her arms around herself, shivering. I glanced at the cardigan on the sofa and tossed it towards her. She caught it then shot me a smile. "thanks"
I just gave her a nonchalant nod "must be tough huh? Learning who's who"
She chuckled dryly. "yeah, it took a lot of getting used to"
"they look so much alike. I nearly pissed myself when I saw him in the hospital"
She smirked, pausing for a while before applying some stick thing on her eyebrows. "oh, yeah? What stopped you?"
"the scar on his lower lip" I shot her a triumphant grin. "what? you thought I wouldn't notice?"
She narrowed her eyes. "lucky you. when I was a teen, I had to buy them watches with different colors just to know who's who"
I raised my eyebrows, a grin still on my face "must be a bit idiotic for someone like you not to notice"
"watch your tongue, kid. I'm still older than you" she crossed her arms over her chest. she met my gaze with a look "besides, that thing happened recently"
"recently?" I furrowed my brows at her. I suddenly felt a bad feeling climb up my toes. "what do you mean recently?"
She shrugged "I mean that it wasn't there in high school"
"so, you mean that the scar- oh, goodness"
She rummaged through her drawers, looking for her other make-up materials. "what?"
I froze. A scar on his lower lip.
Seungcheol's stapler.
His weirdness.
Ji Han's attempts to bring me into isolated places.
It all made sense now.
Oh, goodness. All this time, that dude was trying to kill me. I put my hands on my palms. What the hell would've happened if I allowed him to bring me to the rooftop? He suggested that countless times.
I recalled the day in the hospital when I saw that shiny thing behind him. was that a knife or a scalpel? If I didn't turn around, would I have been goners then?
I stared at Gabrielle, still busy putting her make-up on. My blood roared in my ears. I stood up and shakily grabbed her by the arm "hey, I know this is a bit sudden, but can you just skip it?"
She raised an eyebrow "skip what?"
"the dinner thing with Ji Han"
"why would I do that?"
"because ..." I faltered, trying to come up with a good excuse. I took a deep breath "I think he's the killer that murdered my friends, attempted to kill me, and pinned everything on Ji Soo Hyung?"
I sounded crazy, didn't I?
A line appeared between her brows "I know that you don't trust Ji Han but this is stepping out of the line"
"I am serious. You saw what I saw"
She averted her gaze. she turned her stare back to the mirror, nibbling on the bottom of her lower lip.
I wouldn't blame her for the reaction. Well, who could? If I did everything in my power, gave up all I had just to clear my girlfriend's name and suddenly found out that she was really this murderous psychopath all along, I would be acting like this too.
But I know this isn't Ji Soo.
"Seungcheol slammed a stapler on the guy's face. Ji Soo doesn't have a scar, but Ji Han does"
She drew in a long breath "that's enough"
I felt anger surge through my veins. "I can prove it to you"
"stop it, kid. This is going nowhere"
She applied lipstick on her lips. I snarled. Why isn't she believing me?! I thought we're one team!
"why?! Are you happy that he died? So that you can have him out of the way for you and that psycho?"
She slammed her lipstick on the table. she turned to meet my gaze "you seriously see me in that light?"
"you flirt with him every single—"
"get out Hansol"
She shut her eyes, her hand still rubbing her temples. She placed a hand on her hip. "I am tired, I am hungry, and I am certainly not going to have this conversation with you. you can now go"
"Noona—"
She refused to look at me. "just go. You can come back tomorrow. 8 am or whenever you feel level-headed enough to tackle this issue sensibly"
"Noona, I'm—"
"Hansol"
I met her glare.
I hit a nerve. I knew that. she used my name with that business tone of hers. I saw Hyung dealing with this before. I am no stranger to her silent rage.
I hesitated and walked towards the door. I went outside, my hands still resting on her doorknob. I took a deep breath, deciding to apologize when a napkin was placed over my nose.
I tried to scream for help but the napkin just stifled my voice. I struggled, fighting desperately against the black spots that began to invade my vision. The sleepy sensation finally caught up to me.
All I could remember was an orange vehicle.
Then everything faded into black.
