Wally's POV
It's been a couple of days and all through it I've been avoiding Rachel. I was walking out of school when I was roughly pulled over to an alleyway. I go to scream, but someone puts a hand over my mouth affectively silencing me. I do the first thing I could think of and licked their hand.. big mistake, it tasted like metal and sweat. The person chuckles very low and deep, which indicates it's obviously a man, but he doesn't let go of me. Soon enough he relaxes his grip, but keeping a firm hand on me so I wouldn't try and escape. I turned to get a good look at the man, the first thing I noticed was the eye patch over his right eye, he had raven black hair, and appeared to be wearing a suit.
"You hold many promises Wallace," the man said. I stood there, frozen to the spot. He took that as an invitation to continue, "I've been watching you for some time. And I know all about your parents." My eyes widened in fear, 'no ones suppose to know about them,' I thought. I put on a blank expression and looked at him, "I don't know what you're talking about." He chuckles, "oh, but you do. I know everything about you. I know how you hate your parents, wishing to get away from them. I know how you secretly wish that your aunt and uncle were your parents. Or how you adore the flash and hope that he'll save you. I know all your secrets, your wishes and desires, where you run off to when you need to be alone. I know you Wallace."
My eyes were wide with fear, I stood there frozen while he let me go. I should've ran, but I couldn't. He continued on, "what if I told you I could take you away from it all." That snapped me out of it, "what?" I asked, barely above a whisper. "I could take you away from it all. Train you, make you stronger. But in return, you'll be my apprentice." He said "think about it Wallace." I looked around and he was nowhere to be seen. "What's your name!?" I screamed, all was quiet until one word echoed the alley causing me to shudder in fear, "Slade." Then I was all alone.
"Wally!" I turned and saw Rachel running to me. "Oh, hey Rachel," I said, not really paying attention." "Who were you talking to?" She asked, "huh? Oh, no one. Why?" I questioned, she rolled her eyes, "Wally don't lie to me." Rachel stated. I kept my mouth shut, wondering if I should tell her. She slowly got aggravated, and when she gets angry things either go boom or flying. I saw the perfect opportunity to change the subject, I just had to wait.
"Wallace Rudolph West, tell me right now!" She yelled. I noticed she seemed to be on edge about my non-existent answer. '3...2...1,' I thought *BAM* there goes three lightbulbs and a window. "Why does that happen?" I asked, changing the subject. "Why does what happen," she questioned, getting nervous. "Why does things blow up when your emotions go out of control?" I said, slightly losing my temper. "I-I d-don't know what y-you're tal-talking about," she stutters, that made me mad. "Why are you keeping things from me!? We're suppose to be best friends!" I yelled. After that things started flying around us. I look over at Rachel, she seemed scared, but what threw me off were the tears running down her face. I did the first thing I could think of and I hugged her.
We stood there for along time. She slowly started to calm down, something's would still float around, but then randomly drop. I kept apologizing and telling her she didn't have to tell me. I noticed her saying something, I stopped to listen. "Azerath. Metrino. Zinthos. Azerath. Metrino. Zinthos." Was all she said on constant repeat. We stood there for a couple more minutes until she finally pulled away. "Sorry," she said, just above a whisper. "Don't be," I said, while wiping her tears away, "I'm the one who should be sorry. Listen you don't have to tell me anything until you're ready, ok?" She looked up at me slowly, "but I want to tell you." I looked at her a bit shocked, but with excitement. "Ok," I said slowly. She smiled, the next thing I know I was in a dark space. Rachel was beside me, "don't let go of me ok?" She said. I nodded while grabbing her hand, "where are we?" I asked, "in my mind," she responded.
I looked around shocked. I noticed other Rachel's running around. There was one wearing pink, running, laughing, doing cartwheels. Another one, only this one was wearing green doing karate? I saw one wearing yellow underneath a tree reading a book. There were many more, but the scene started to change. "I thought it would be better if I showed you instead." Rachel said. I looked at her face, she looked excited, nervous, relaxed, but most of all she looked scared. I squeezed her hand reassuringly, she looked over and smiled. I quickly turned my head so she wouldn't notice the blush overcoming my face. We both waited for the memories to play out.
Time skip
I wasn't prepared. We watched from beginning to end. Starting with her birth. I learned her name was really raven and that she was half demon! How she spent 4 years of her life in Azerath, controlling her powers and hiding from her father. How she was found and her home was destroyed along with her mother and people. I learned that she was to fulfill a prophecy and how she ran to earth to get away. I saw her on the run, trying to find a home while hiding from someone. I soon found out that someone was Slade. Apparently he made a deal with her father, Trigon. I silently swore to myself that I will protect her and keep that prophecy from being fulfilled. The memories continued, her meeting me, us having fun, her silently trying to control her powers all alone, up until now. When the memories ended we were back in the alley. I noticed it was pretty dark, 'how long were we there?' I silently asked. My parents were going to be furious, but surprisingly I didn't care.
I slowly looked at Rac-Raven, she was crying. I instantly held her, "thank you for showing me," I said. "You're not afraid of me?" She asked, "why would I be afraid of you?" I said, kissing her forehead, "you're my best friend and nothing will ever change that." She started to cry even more. I picked her up, heading to her place. I was able to remember the way thanks to her memories. Halfway there it started to rain, but I noticed none of it hitting us. I looked up and noticed a black dome over us, I looked at Raven, that's still weird to say, to ask her about it, but she was asleep.
'I wonder if she knows she uses her powers in her sleep,' I silently mused. We made it to the place she was staying at. It wasn't anything fancy, just a rundown apartment at an abandoned apartment building. I walked right on in, for I knew there was no lock or key. I go to one of the rooms and lay her down, I go to leave but she wouldn't let go. I sigh and silently slipped in the bed with her. She cuddles up to me and I could feel a blush coming to my face. I wrap my arms around her and kiss her forehead one last time. " I promise to protect you with all my heart. Even if it kills me." I whispered in the night. With that last said I went into a dream full of wonder with me running, a crazy cackle, arrows flying, a green girl, a mini Superman, water left and right, and a single raven. For the first time in forever, I went to sleep with a smile on my face.
