Bad News

Alexandra's POV:
i heard a constant beeping noise that i've heard before. it was the sound i heard every time i went to see my mom in the hospital. The beep grew louder and louder as i finally woke up. i looked around the white room with half opened eyes. the bright light above me caused me to go blind. "ughh" i grunted grabbing my eyes. i sat up in the bed and noticed no one else was in the room. i heard a familiar voice in the hallway approaching. it was zach. i lied back down and pretended to be asleep.

Zach's POV:
When Alex passed out at my house i screamed for my mom. she called 911 and the paramedics came and put her on a stretcher. They told me to come with her in the ambulance. When we got to the hospital, they began running tests and stuff and i called her dad who was stuck in traffic on his way home from work. He also said he would have to pick up Alex's 2 brothers and sister from after care. I told him i would stay with Alex and i wasn't planning on leaving. When Alex was all settled in her room, still unconscious, i went down to the cafeteria to get her some snacks and drinks for when she wakes up. as i was walking back to her room the doctor told me he needed to tell me something and i told him that we should wait for her dad to come. When i entered the room, i was sad to see she wasn't awake yet. i placed the cookies, Doritos and 2 Gatorade's on the table and sat next to her. I grabbed her hand and kissed it. "Alex i-" i sighed. "i don't know if you can hear me. but the doctor said that this is serious. I told him i don't want to know anything until your dad gets here. but i promise you we will get through this together once you wake up. i love you." she opened her eyes. "holy shit it worked." she giggled and it made me so happy to see her smile. "um hey, how are you feeling?" she made a confused face. "did you just say you love me?" "yeah. and i have loved you since the first day we met. and instead of telling you that i became a jerk. i never wanted anyone else to have you so i tried to make everyone hate you. and i'm sorry Alex, but i will always love you." she started crying. i leaned over the bed and kissed her. "i love you too, Zach." "so what happened?" she asked wiping away her tears. "well, what do you remember?" "we were playing the guitar, we kissed, i dropped the guitar, and i don't remember anything else." "you leaned over to pick up the guitar and fell and then you blacked out." i picked up the Gatorade and opened it for her. "thank you." then her dad walked in. "hey dad." "oh thank god you're ok." he went up and hugged her. the doctor came in behind him. "hi Alex, i'm Doctor Felix and after doing some tests we have some bad news. we all looked at the doctor. when he pulled out a file. "You have Cancer. Stage Four Leukemia. We are going to do what we can to get rid of it. Starting with chemo tomorrow." i looked over at Alex who was in shock. she didn't move. she looked straight ahead. and didn't say anything. "Alex-" the doctor went to say. "get out." Alex looked at him angry. The doctor said he'd be back soon and walked out. her dad was crying and followed the doctor into the hallway to ask more questions. Alex looked at me and started crying. i sat next to her while she buried her face in my chest. "why? why does this shit have to happen to us?" she cried. "hey. i promise you, we will get through this together." i wish i could've listened to my own advice. i was holding back my tears to be strong in front of her. But it was hard. i knew i was never leaving her side. i was gonna stay with her until she's better. no matter what.
