Zach's POV:
Alex fell asleep and i was just laying there taking everything in. Alex's dad was gone, her mom was gone, she still has cancer, and now she needs to raise her siblings alone. as i was thinking my phone buzzed. i grabbed it so that it wouldn't wake Alex.

so sad what happened to Alex's dad.
me:
i'm gonna block you unless you
tell me who you are.
unknown:
you wouldn't do that. i know
that deep down, you like that
i'm texting you.
me:
you're wrong. i would never do
anything behind Alex's back.

then why haven't you told
her about me yet?

who was this and why do they keep texting me? i decided to text jack.

Alex's dad died in a
car accident today.

jack coming over tomorrow made me so happy. he will make Alex happy too!! i wish i could tell her but she was sleeping. it was time for me to sleep too, i guess i'll just surprise her with him.
Alexandra's POV:
the next morning i woke up and kissed Zach on the cheek. he smiled as i got up to wake up the kids. i didn't plan on sending them to school for the rest of the week while we planned dads funeral. after i woke them up, i told them we were going out for breakfast. we all got ready and piled into the car. i told zach to text Myta and have her meet us there. i wanted the kids to meet her before she was over at our house all of the time.
after breakfast, Myta came over to watch the kids while i planned my dads funeral. Zach told me he was going out and would be back soon. After what felt like years of calling funeral homes and gravestone companies, i got a message on my instagram from Zach's friend, Jack.

hey alex, um zach was supposed to pick me up at the airport 40 minutes ago and he's not answering me. did he forget?
me:
um, zach left and said he'd be back soon an hour ago. he never told me he was getting you.
jack:
i think he wanted to surprise you. but he never came.
me:
something isn't right. i'm coming to get you.
i drove to the airport to pick up Jack. when we went to pull away i got a call from an unknown number. i pulled back over and answered it.
"hello? Zach is that you?" i asked. "oh hey Alex." "mel? why are you calling me from an unknown number?" i said confused. "oh alex, that's the least of your worries. you know with your cancer and your dads death? funny, you seemed to stop talking to me, when you got a boyfriend." "i'm still confused, what do you need?" "it's not what i need, it's what i have that's yours. i'm gonna have a little fun with zachy poo over here and then i'll let you know what i need." the call ended as i heard zach call my name. "where could he be?" jack asked. "i know exactly where he is."
i sped all the way to the abandoned car wash in town, where mel would run away when her parents were fighting. she had a mattress and a tv set up there. we pulled up and i crept around the building to the back door. me and jack snuck in when i heard zach yell. "i will not have sex with you melissa." "oh yes you will, unless you want me to hurt Avery." "you would never." zach grunted. i walked up slowly until i could see zach tied to the bed. melissa's back was towards me. i watched as melissa cut off Zach's shirt with a pair of scissors and then sitting on his lap, rubbing her hands over his chest. "i just don't understand Zachy, why you chose her over me? you used to like me. tried telling me that i shouldn't be friends with her and that i could have all this," she said wrapping her arms around his neck. "but now you hate me and love her." "i've always loved her." zach said. "get the fuck off of him Melissa." i walked towards her as angry as possible. "you are too late Alex. he already gave himself to me." before i knew it i walked over and tackled her on the floor. i was on top of her and repeatedly slapping and punching her in the face until she screamed she was sorry. i stood up, out of breath and walked over to zach. i almost collapsed when he caught me. "let's get you home."
