Monumental Memories

When we got back to the joke shop, we were grinning like idiots, our foreheads pressed together, and more people were there, most of the order, except for Molly and Ginny.

"And I thought Luna was optimistic, you guys almost died." Ron half laughed at us nervously. George helped me off the ground, smiling down at me excitedly, and wringing his hands together. I returned his sweet smile, grabbing his hand, and looking up at him expectingly.

"Well, we have a reason to be happy little brother." He said, squeezing my hand and holding it up in his as if he had bought a new shiny engagement ring. "Elizabeth and I are engaged!" He continued looking around the room and putting his arm around my shoulder as I hid my blushing face.

"Good job Georgie!!!" Fred broke the shocked silence, walking up to George and cuffing him on the shoulder. The room busted into a round of excited congratulations and smiles. Remus walked up and gave me a huge hug, whispering congratulations in my ear and pulling away with his hands set on my shoulders.

"Remus?" I asked, looking up at him with a smile. "Will you walk me down the isle?" I finished, a joyful tear or two slipping down my face.

"Of course I will, Elizabeth, it's the least I could do for your father."

"Thank you." I whispered as I pulled him into another hug. After all the commotion settled down a bit, we announced that we were going to the burrow, to tell Mrs. Weasley and Ginny the news. But instead of going alone, everyone in the joke shop followed us, in which Mrs. Weasley wasn't all that pleased, as she hadn't cleaned for the occasion.

"What's all this?" She asked Aurthor, who had came with us from the joke shop and was walking out of the crowded sitting room to greet his wife.

"Calm down Molly, you're not gonna care that the mantel's properly dusted when you hear the good news. Where's the kids?" He asked, gesturing upstairs. "Ginny, Harry, Hermione, get down here!", He yelled up the crooked staircase, and a minute or two later they appeared, looking slightly confused at the group gathered in the sitting room.

"What happened?" Ginny asked, furrowing her eyebrows at the group of excited people. George looked down at me as if to say "it's your turn now." So I smiled warmly at them and said

"Well, what happened, what happened is that your brother convinced me to marry him. That's what happened." Mrs. Weasley somehow figured out how to look shocked, concerned, and happy at the same time.

"Well that, that-that's wonderful, but don't you think it's a bit, I don't know, rushed?", she said, putting a hand on her husbands shoulder.

"Not at all." George said confidently, wrapping his arm around my own shoulder and lightly squeezing, all the while smiling down at me, not only with his mouth but with his eyes all the same."I wanted to propose the second she yelled at us for not letting her prank the Ravenclaw common room."

"George." I whispered just loud enough for us both to hear.

"So, I'm guessing you're having the wedding here at the Burrow? Right?" Mrs. Weasley said, clapping her hands together and smiling at us expectantly.

"In a way, I guess, I wanted to have the wedding in the place we got engaged. If that's okay with you, George." I replied almost instantly, looking up at him.

"Well there's already so many memories there, why not make some more?" He replied, winking slyly. I knew he was thinking of wasted days laying on blankets in the sun, stolen kisses under the stars followed by sleepless nights looking up at them, then sneaking back into the house in the early morning, hoping no one would notice. But also the more recent ones, me taking Bellatrix there because it was the first place I thought that we'd be alone enough not to hurt anyone, the fact that he knew exactly where I had went, him enchanting the ring to protect me, then him risking his life to save mine, and, of course, our teary eyed engagement."It'll be perfect" I whispered. I don't think I stopped grinning all night, not even in the morning when I went to visit Luna to tell her and ask her to be my maid of honor.

I knocked on Luna's door the next morning and was greeted by Neville,"Hi Neville!" I said, hugging him quickly as I walked in the circle house that I had visited every summer since Luna and I had become friends.

"Where's Luna?" I asked, as I looked around the sitting room.

"Luna's upstairs in her room." Neville replied, closing the door and walking towards the kitchen. But before he could enter, Luna's father burst out.

"Ella!!! What brings you here?" He asked, moving some of the Quibblers of an arm chair so I can sit.

"Oh, umm, I had something to tell Luna."

"Do you want me to go get her?" He asked, crossing to the stairs.

"No, no, I was hoping to tell her myself." I said before he could asend them.

"Very well then." Was all he replied, walking back into the kitchen.

"Is everything okay?" Neville asked before I went up.

"Everything's fine, Neville, trust me, more than fine." I offered a reassuring smile before bounding up the stairs two at a time, like I used to do when I was smaller.

"LUNA, GIRL TALK, NOW." I yelled, running into her room and collapsing on her bed, out of breath and grinning like an idiot.

"What is it?" She asked, putting a dress back in her closet and jumping one the bed as I had, sitting crossed legged.

"Well." I started, explain all the details up until he proposed. "Then, he pulled back and looked into my eyes, smiling, and said "Elizabeth, will you marry me?" And well, I said yes!!!" I finished and Luna squealed loudly, tackling me backwards on her bed. "LUNA, Luna, I want you to be my maid of honor."  I finally got out.

"Naturally." She replied. "When are you going to go dress shopping?" She asked, "When's the wedding?"

"Well, soon, in the next month or so, and I'm not sure." I replied, stitching my eyebrows together.

"Well, why not today?" She asked.

"Because, it looked as if you were going to go on a date with Neville." I said, gesturing towards her closet with the dress she had just hung up.

"He can go dress robes shopping with the guys," She said, grinning, "my best friends getting married!!!"
