What am I gonna do with my life?

All jokes aside I'm only seventeen going on eighteen in a couple of months and I'm in my last year of high school and I'm extremely lost.

Of course there are things I like to do that I could pursue as a career but what if it doesn't work out?

I'm not like other kids who wanna be a nurse, a doctor or a vet, working in a lab. I don't see myself having that type of job.

No offense to the people who do.

I don't want to have to waste my parents money by going to college to get some bullshit degree that I will never use or end up dropping out. It's a waste.

The way I see it if I have to go to school, I wanna go to a school that's just for my career path. No going to a school that in order for me to succeed in my career in have to do other subjects as well, to me it's a waste of time; mine, theirs and money.

I need to talk to my parents.

As I was thinking about my future, there was a knock at my door.

My mom stuck her head in," Hey sweetheart can we talk to you?"

"Sure mom. Wat happen?"

She just gave me a small smile as she walked in with dad.

Mom took a seat on my bed next to me while my dad opted for the chair that's next to my small desk with my school supplies on it.

My mom placed her hand on my knee," Notin' is wrong Lin. We jus want to talk to you bout something"

I nodded my head egging them to continue.

"Yuh getting older sweetie, I mean yuh almost eighteen an dat means you will wanna do...stuff. I know dat...uh-um, feelings might start to develop" My dad takes a deep breath as he struggles with his words.

What is wrong with him?

Oh lawrd! 

Are my parents trying to have the sex talk with me?!

"H-honey help me out here, please. Mi cah do this" My dad fans his face like the dramatic man he is.

This is where I get it from people.

My mom rolled her eyes at him,"Yuh ah bitch sometimes you know dat right?!" She laughs and shakes her head at him.

"You doh love me....." he pouts.

She makes a face,"Eh....Anyway honey le we get straight to de point, you having sex? Yes or no?"

My heart stops for a second. I know it was leading to it but I didn't expect her to say it like that.

I thought back to what happened a few weeks ago.

Kyler's hands all over me. Inside me.

His big- I mean it's so........

"No. No I'm not" I lied. Well if you wanna get technical.

No! No you do not.

"Kyler and I ain't get dat far"

"Kyler? You mean da boi with de blonde hair?  I don't like him for you. By himself he's cool but for you nah! Out here looking de white male version of Storm from the Avengers" My dad let's out a huff as if he's been holding it in for a while. I think he has.

"That's Skylor daddy and X-Men not Avengers"

"Yeah whatever"

My mom claps her hands together, " Is it the one with the pretty green eyes and freckles? He's ah handsome young man. You did good Linny, I'm proud"

"You jus like yuh modda bagging the good ones. I mean look at me!"

"Oh shut up you ole man! You was ah nerd in highschool. Glasses and all"

He sucked his teeth " Why you gotta lie to my chile like dat Simone!"

Mom waved him off," Darnell why you acting like it ain't the truth? Big head "

She looks at me,"Yo daddy gets on my damn nerves"

I giggle a little bit as she shakes her head.

"Look how yall treat me..."

My dad gets up from the chair, walking to the door he gives me the peace sign and give one right back.

"Damn right I got a big head. You love it tho" He muttered.

Wait.

Eww. I don't think I was supposed to here that.

"Nigga what..." She runs after him," bye baby! Good talk"

She closes my door.

"Darnell! I know you hear me calling you!....don't walk away from me "

I just shook my head at them.

These people birth me.

I love them still.
