*SOPHIE’s PoV

“Goodnight, daddy.” I giggled. It sounded nice.

“daddy?” rinig ko ang antok sa boses niya.

I stifled laughter and held my smile back. “yup, nagpapractice lang.”

Nilayo niya ako for a while para tignan sa mukha. Pero nginitian ko lang siya. nag-adjust siya at umupo kaming dalawa. He looks deeply puzzled. Tsk.

“practice?” sobrang kunot ng noo niya.

I smoothed his forehead with a chuckle. “masamang nasstress ang soon to be daddy. Wag ganun.”

He held my hands. “soon to be.. you mean?”

I slowly nodded with a smile.

“you’re joking.” Hindi niya makapaniwalang sabi.

“got a confirmation from the OB-GYN department earlier at the hospital.”

Inabot ko ang envelope ng results kanina at nandun na rin ang pinakunang confirmation ko – pregnancy test kit. He turned on the lights and checked the envelope. Ayaw pa maniwala. Tss.

Humiga na ako at hinayaan ko siya. tsk. Binalot ko sa katawan ko ang makapal na comforter, baka kasi lamigin si baby :) hihihi

Ang tahimik niya masyado. I don’t want to know his reaction. I’m going to keep the baby no matter what. :) Because in me, I’m bearing another champion in the making.

Maya maya, humiga na rin si Jeric. I was already half-asleep. He hugged me and he rested his hand on my tummy, caressing. He kissed me by the ear and rested his head just behind my ear.

Then narinig ko siyang humihikbi.

“uy, okay ka lang?”

naramdaman ko ang pagtaas ng kilay ko kasabay ng pagkunot ng noo ko.

“I’m going to be a father.” It’s almost a whisper. And his voice broke. But I heard the delight behind his voice. “and you’re going to be a mommy.”

“yeah.” I closed my eyes. I breathed in relief and relaxed. “I guess we are.”

“come here.” Humarap ako sa kanya in his request. Ipinaunan niya sa akin ang arm niya then he wrapped it around my shoulders as if he was careful. “does that explain the long hours in the bathroom?”

I can’t help but smile. Pinunasan ko ang luha niya. Weird dahil nagagawa niya pang ngumiti. Tsk. “well, morning sickness is not a joke.”

He hugged me tighter, burying me in his body. “I know I’m not a perfect husband. But I’ll try my best to be the best father to our child. I will take care of you till the day that I die. I promise.”

I nestled deeper into his arms. “let’s try together.”
