“hmm. Looks like she’s moved on pretty well after your break-up, Jeric.” Sabi ng dad ni Kara while we watched Sophie and the rest from inside the restau.

“she’s a pretty girl, Jeric. But not quite a match to our Kara.” Nakangiting sabi lang ni tita, praising well their daughter.

I just smiled and played with my food. I know Kara’s triumphant at the things she’s hearing. Well, I’m not. Not even to the things I’m seeing.

Not long, they went away and were out of view. The meal was ended as well. But the façade was just getting started for Kara.

“May pupuntahan pa kami, Kara and Jeric. Do you want to come?” tanong ni tito.

Kara linked arms with me and hugged my arms close. “Don’t bother about us. Have fun, you, two.” She was beaming.

“I’ll drive Kara home, Tito.” I said, composed.

“Okay. Have fun, the two of you.” Tita said with a smile and kissed both of us goobye.

Kara and I watched them as they went ahead. And when they were gone, Kara’s hold loosened. Binitawan niya na rin ako and held her handbag with both her hands. She smiled at me.

“I have two questions or options in my mind right now. But I know you’re going to pick the one I’m betting on.” She sighed with a smile. “I’m not stupid, Jeric. Hindi kita sasakalin kagaya ng inaakala mo.”

My forehead was in a mash at what she was saying. “what are you saying?” even my voice sounded grim to me.

“Go. Follow and talk to her. I know you haven’t gotten over her yet. It’s a fresh break up.”

I was surprised. Paano niya nagagawang sabihin to sa akin? Has she really changed? I just can’t put my mind to it. What the hell is Kara saying? What is she planning?!

“Just go, Jeric.” She smiled. “I’ll meet up with Andrea sa F21 store. Bye.” And she walked away still with a smile on her face. O.o

I walked a few steps away, taking my time, even pretending that I was on my phone. Masakit, of course, but I know someone’s having an even harder time.

I turned around only to see him quick on his feet, running away, for the one he truly loves.

I’m sorry, Jeric. Sorry for giving you a very hard time. I only did this for you. I sighed, but still, half-heartedly, I smiled.

“huy!” someone nudged me. It was Andrea. “I thought we were going to see each other at F21? Buti na lang dito ako napadaan.”
