“Bakit nakaupo si Sophie sa kabilang side?” tanong ni mommy to no one in particular.

“hindi na rin siya napapadalaw sa bahay, no? Hindi rin ata siya bumati nung Pasko at bagong taon.” Sabi ni papa na medyo disappointed at wala sa sarili.

“did you two break up?” gulat na tanong ni mommy.

We were all still looking at Tony and Sophie at the other end of the arena. I don’t know how to feel. I don’t know what to do. Right now, well, I’m hella confused. Our team lost and then just when the game was about to end, I saw my girlfriend sitting at the other team’s side rooting for them. And now I should find my way through this trouble because my parents know nothing about what’s happening.

“kaya ba naging malapit na ulit kayo ni Kara?” dagdag pa ni achi.

“oh my gosh, ahia! You got back together with Kara?” gulat na sabi rin ni almira.

(_ _”) and here comes the endless waterfall of questions. I sighed.

“yeah, we broke up.” I calmly and coolly said. There was no other way to do it.

They were all shocked. Worse is.. nandito ang dalawang kaibigan niya, na I bet wala ring alam sa mga nangyayari sa amin ni Sophie. Their eyes were wide with shock. At walang nakapagsalita.

“you got back with Kara, for real?” gulat na tanong ni achi.

“shocks. Hindi ko yun alam. Akala ko cool off lang or something. Nung paskuhan kasi..” sabi ni Sandy.

“oo nga! Nung paskuhan!” biglang sabi ng sisters ko.

“yeah, nung Paskuhan, di ba..” panimula ni Jeron.

“things change.” Mabilis kong sabi to cut their queries short. “the two of us included. Mag-aayos lang ako then I’ll follow you, guys, for dinner.” Sabi ko sa family ko.

magpapaalam sana ako kila Raffy at Sandy na alam kong gulat na gulat, pero nauna na sila. Umalis silang walang paalam, and from what I can see, headed to where Sophie and Tony were. Magkikita sila. Sandy was already on his phone and so is Sophie. Now, what do we do with this?

I attended the meeting with the team and after, naligo na rin ako sa dugout. My head was full of incoherency while in the shower. What do I say later? What do I tell them? What excuses should I prepare?

I turned my back against the rushing warm water. Why was sophie at that side? I miss her so much. Why didn’t she support my team samantalang sina Raffy at Sandy nasa side ng team namin?

I finished with a sigh. I followed my family to dinner. Pero mukhang sa off mood ko pa lang, hindi na nila ako makausap so they let it go. they tried to uplift the mood, although naiisingit nila yung topic about Sophie paminsan-minsan. Hindi ko rin naman sinasagot yung mga tanong. I don’t know what to say. Kahit ako nagulat eh.
