Jevine stared out the car window as her mother rambled on about how much fun this camp she was going to was going to be. Jevine didn't want to offend her mother by ignoring her, but she didn't want to listen to her mother. She carefully pulled out her headphones and placed one in her right ear and covered it with her long, black hair.

"Camp Flarestone. Oh, how I haven't been there in a long time! I remember first arriving, and I was so excited and terrified to be leaving home for all summer long. Two months and three weeks. I survived, but only because I made some friends, which is what I want you to do Jevvy." Here mother, Amber, went on saying.

"Did your know that this camp is the very camp I met your father? I was in the hedgehog cabin, and he was in the wolf cabin. We were supposed to be rival cabins, but we just couldn't help it. He was so kind and loving, and nothing but sweet! I loved-"

"Mom." Jevine cut her off. Amber took a quick glance at her daughter's face and saw tears streaming down her face.

"I'm... I'm sorry Jevine. I thought you would love to hear about your dad. I thought it would make you smile thinking about him." She apologized, looking back to the road.

Jevine pulled her jacket sleeves over her hands and wiped her face dry, then pulled her hood over her head as she saw that they were approaching the sign.

The sign said.

"They still haven't changed that sign from when I was here. At least for twenty years. Look, there's already some people here. Maybe one of them are in your cabin!" Amber said as she parked. Jevine kept her head down as she hopped out and got her things from the trunk.

"Check in should be in the mess hall. It's the building you'll have your meals in. The fire pit isn't far from it, and that's where you'll have ceremonies or camp activities." Amber said, closing the trunk and leading Jevine inside the mess hall.

The line wasn't really long, seeing as the were late. I

Typical for a new girl. Jevine thought as they walked up to a table.

"Hi! I'm Amber Mitcham. I'm here to check in Jevine Mitcham." She said. The lady at the table looked through the rosters and finally found the name.

"Devine Jevine. Welcome!" She said with a smile.

"Sorry, but it's not pronounced like that. The 'I' is pronounced as an 'E' so its, 'Jeveeeeene'. Not Devine with a 'J'. The 'I' is an 'E'." Amber corrected her.

"Ok... 'Jeveeeeene' you'll be in the Deer Cabin. Last one to check in for that cabin, so all of the other girls will be there. Here's your sinch bag with all of the camp things including a schedule and a map. See you soon!" She waved. Jevine took the bag along with her things and followed her mother to the cabin.

"Well... There's your cabin. Now remember, this is a summer camp. I'm not coming to pick you up until the last week of summer. Understand?" Amber asked. Jevine nodded and hugged her mom.

"Remember out agreement though. If I hate it, you never send me to another camp again unless I want to." Jevine said.

"I remember. Bye Jevvy."

She kissed the top of her head then walked away. Jevine took her things up to the cabin and heard laughing coming from inside. She hesitated, but she managed to knock, which made the laughing stop almost instantly. The door opened, revealing five other girls inside.

"It's out last cabin buddy!" The girl at the door shrieked. She had short, curly, brown hair with dark olive skin and plump lips.

"Well, don't keep her standing there Lola! Meet her in!" A girl with black hair with neon blue tips. She had more of a light olive skin tone, and wore ripped jeans with chains.
