AN: Drake and Y/N have known each other since they were young, now at the age of twenty they embark on a journey of their own; chaperoned by Sully of course! Fair warning I was told to make this sad, I'm sorry. I hope you enjoy. (Symbolism Prompt)
Columbia was really boring when your parental guardian is forcing you to stay indoors and out of sight; what a way to spend your summer vacation. However, you were never one to follow the rules so you always found some way of sneaking out now and then. You knew that Sully would be hanging around the Sir Francis Drake exhibit, stealing something for someone else. He didn't give you the exact details because he didn't want you getting mixed up in all of this.
Despite what people might think he was an amazing guardian, Victor Sullivan had been friends with your parents since before you were born. He was your godfather and when you were thirteen your parents were in a car accident and they were taken from you. The year you turned thirteen was the year that Victor Sullivan became your legal guardian; you became a little cynical after that but anyone in your shoes would have a hard time adjusting. You were a happy kid growing up but then by a cruel twist of fate you changed a little inside; Sully did his best but it was hard to find your smile after a tragedy like that.
You slipped out of the hotel room that you were staying at, desperate to have some fun; you were fifteen for heaven's sake! You were strolling along in the markets when you caught a glimpse of Sully and nearly turned back around; if something else hadn't caught your eye. A kid who looked to be about your age was following Sully; trying to be discrete but failing miserably. You decided to follow this kid and see what his plan was; but he ended up lifting Sully's wallet.
You followed behind, and pulled him into an alleyway, "Hey, give me the wallet you just stole from, Sullivan!"
The kid tried to play it cool, "I don't know what you're talking about! But, Hi, Nathan Drake, and you are?"
You fired back, "None of your business, until you give me back that wallet!"
This kid had a cheeky smirk in place, "So if I give you the wallet... then you'll tell me your name, beautiful?"
You rolled your eyes, "Deal. Now hand it over..." He slapped the wallet into your palm and waited expectantly, "My name is Y/N... Y/N L/N."
Nathan smirked, "Y/N? That's a lovely name! Until we meet again..."
He started to walk away but you grabbed his shoulder, "Not so fast, now give me what you stole from the wallet."
He tried to sound oblivious, "I didn't steal anything! I have no idea what you're talking about." All you had to do was stare at him impassively, for about a minute before he caved, "Fine I took this copy of a key he made. There is something in that exhibit that belongs to my family and I just wanted it back."
You sighed, this kid was an amateur and you knew that he was going to get caught; at the very least if he was caught by Sully then Sully would be merciful. You were going to give him a chance because whatever he was looking for seemed important to him. You tossed the wallet back to Nathan and he caught it, staring at you in confusion, "I'll be seeing you around real soon, Nathan Drake."
You turned around and walked back to your hotel room, you didn't hear Nathan saying, mostly to himself, "I hope so... Y/N."
Later that night, Sullivan took you to dinner with a not so secret guest, Nathan Drake; who looked almost as surprised as Sullivan when he found out the two of you already knew each other. And the rest is history.
---
You laughed at Sully and Nate, "This is certainly a way to spend a semester break, what do you think, Nate?"
Nate walked over, one arm around your shoulder as he kissed your cheek, "I don't know, we're about to discover that Sir Francis Drake faked his own death and I've got you."
You looked up at him and gave him a quick peck on the lips, "Ah, you are so sentimental, Nate."
Sully was loading supplies into his plane grumbling to himself, "I swear half the time you kids pretend that I don't even exist. When did that happen?"
Drake pulled you into his arms, "Hey, it's called being romantic." You laughed and leaned into to give him a kiss.
However, a rather large hand covered Nate's mouth and pushed him away, "Nate... Kid! That is my goddaughter try to restrain yourself while I'm around."
Nate helped you onto the boat and called out to Sully, "But you're always around..."
Sully climbed into his plane and fired back, "Exactly!"
You and Nate drove the boat all the way out to the coordinates and the two of you put on your diving suits. You were ecstatic when you actual found the sarcophagus and eventually pull it on board; Nate could hardly contain himself. When you opened the sarcophagus it was empty much to your unbridled joy; Nate pulled out a map and scoffed, "El Dorado..."
You snatched the map from his hands, "Are you serious? Oh my god! He found El Dorado... Nate this is incredible!"
He caught you in a hug and spun you around; the two of you were laughing the entire time. However, that was short-lived as several ships approached and Nate pulled out a crate with a few guns. He pulled one out, loaded it, and then handed it to you before grabbing one for himself. Of course the two of you had to encounter pirates; it was just your luck. Both you and Nate fired into the oncoming force but there was so many of them and a few had jumped on board.
You noticed that Nate's gun jammed while he was standing next to you and you saw Sully coming in to land with his plane; you waved him in briefly before turning to help Nate. Neither of you had noticed the man running toward you two with a knife you pushed Nate out of the way and the man turned his ire toward you. The blade punctured your middle and you managed to fire off a shot before falling down.
Sully was by your side cradling your head in his lap as Nate checked your wound; it was bleeding too heavily and you were losing consciousness fast. Sully was crying and stroking your face, "Hey Sully, I just want you to know that you were the best Father, not Godfather, but the best Father that any kid could have asked for. I didn't tell you that enough; when I had the chance." He sobbed into your weakening grip; you don't think you had ever seen him cry before.
You looked over at Nate, who was crying into your shoulder as he desperately tried to clutch you closer. You ran a hand through his hair, "Hey Nate..." He immediately loomed over you and stared down at you with tears freely falling down. You placed your hand on his cheek, "Please don't change. I know that it's going to be hard but don't let this make you cruel or hard-hearted; you are an amazing person so don't let a cruel twist of fate change that. Go have your adventures and live your life to its fullest... for me. And Nate... I love you."
He gave you a watery laugh, "I love you too, Y/N"
You smiled and coughed a little roughly, "I'm so glad I caught that little punk who was trying to steal from my Godfather; back in Columbia." Slowly the world began to fade and you drifted away peacefully.
