"So, you really think that this won't ruin our friendship? Oh god! What if something does go wrong but I don't want our relationship to be ruined. Is it too late to change my mind?" Valkyrie asked quickly.
"Val, I have been in love with you for a very long time. I was just afraid to admit it. One of my biggest regrets was not saying it back, that night. I am so so sorry, I had to find you to tell you that I really really missed you and love you and don't ever want you to leave me again. So, to answer your question, it is not too late to back out. It never will be. Just know, I want you to be happy and I don't care what that means for me, if you shatter my imaginary heart, and end up with Fletcher, as long as you are happy, go for it. But I will be heartbroken. And honestly, I don't think it will change out relationship too much. Like I said, I have been in love with you for a very long time, I will treat you exactly the same, except for a few kisses here and there." Skulduggery finished his little speech with a look in Valkyries direction. She had tears welling in her eyes.
"I love you too Skull, to be completely honest, I even had a bit of a thing for you when I was younger, I only realised it was more than a crush when I was fifteen. Then there was the whole Darquesse thing and honestly, you were the one that I really didn't want to kill. I would have been devastated if I had killed my parents and Alice, but if I'd done anything to hurt you, or killed you in the way I saw me killing you, I don't know what I would have done. All I know is that I would have done anything to be with you. And if you'd died that day, I would have gone to the ends of the earth to get you back, I'd find a way, I've already done it once." Valkyrie threw in a joke right at the end making Skulduggery chuckle to himself, remembering the rescue, it wasn't brilliant, but he was here now, and he would never tell Valkyrie that he would have been a lot better at rescuing her than she was him, he was far too afraid of what she might do, and god knows, he did not want to end up back in that hell hole. "Oh, and Skull?"
"Yes, Val?"
"We went past the turn back when you were saying something about not saying you love me back."
"Shit"
Valkyrie burst into a fit of giggles. Skulduggery turned around as quickly as they could and they were soon on their way again.

"Well, that was... disturbing." Val commented as they exited the house.
"But you've gotten better at dealing with those sort of crime scenes." Commented Skul
"I guess... So, who do you think did it. You've usually got at least one idea by now?"
"Someone called Phineas Maldrake. A very old sorcerer, older than me by a long shot. It was said he would hunt down people who were evil at the very core, or people that were hiding something, a really big secret, I don't know, the stories were never really clear, but he could turn them inside out by one look. He would stare at you and burn your soul. Now as the soul is a metaphorical thing and we are not sure if it is physical yet, basically..."
"The end result is that you are no longer the right way round." finished Val "But you said it was just a story?" She Questioned
"Yes. Because no - one could possibly be that old."
"How old are we talking here, Skul?"
"Over one million human years."
"So, it's not true then?"
"I never said that..."

A/N - I'm not sure if I can still see where this book is going. I'm not really sure it's ever going to end and I'm thinking that I might stop writing this one. I was thinking of writing a few other fanfics but I'm not sure yet.
