"Make sure you come back here if you develop any symptoms," Madame Pomfrey said as she led Remus out of the Hospital wing, "Sirius is in your house so he can show you to your Common Room."
"Let's go!" Sirius said, grabbing my hand and leading me towards a set of stairs, stopping to let the staircase rearrange itself and not letting go of Remus' hand.
Remus stared down at Sirius' hand, his cheeks burned and he didn't know why, he was just holding his hand, nothing special. But it was just, something about Sirius, that made it seem like he was breaking the rules, rebelling, or something?! Remus shook his head, it was nothing.
"Don't we have classes today?" Remus asked, "Why are we going to the Common Room?"
"We don't have classes today!" Sirius said "It's the first Friday of the year! That means no classes!"
"Really?" Remus said, his eyes wide, it didn't sound true, but Sirius said it, and he seemed cool.
"Yeah! Everyone else is probably outside but we can hang out in here and I'll help you unpack!"
The boys reached a painting and Sirius stopped, a lady in pink was sitting in the frame and talking to the painting across from her.
"This," said Sirius, proud that he knew a bit more than Remus, "is the fat lady, you tell her the password and she lets you into the Gryffindor Common Room!"
"Isn't it a bit rude to call her the fat lady?" Remus asked, "why don't people call her something else?"
"Don't worry dear," the fat lady smiled "that's just what I'm called! Password?"
"Flobberworm!" Sirius shouted and the portrait swung open.
"But between you and me," the fat lady said as Remus walked through the doorway, "My real name is Marie"
"It's nice to meet you M-"
"Shh!" The fat lady-Marie whispered "I quite like when the other children try and guess my name! Don't spoil my fun!" Remus stepped out of the doorway and the portrait swung shut.
"Let's get you unpacked!" Sirius said "your trunks are probably by your bed! I hope we're in the same room!"
As fate, and just common sense, would have it, Remus and Sirius were in the same room, their beds were right next to each other. As Remus unpacked Sirius ate a sandwich,
"Why aren't you unpacking?" Remus asked "and where did you get that sandwich?"
"I'm not unpacking because I don't really need to," the boy answered "I can just keep everything in my trunk and not have to worry about packing it all up at the end of the year! And I got this from home, I packed it to eat on the train but forgot about it! No one told me about the trolley witch!"
On Monday Sirius and Remus walked into Transfiguration to a disappointed McGonagall
"It appears," she said to the rest of the class "that Mr. Black and his friend have decided to finally show up"
Remus glanced at Sirius and noticed him flinch at the sound of his full name, he then looked at the clock in confusion, he was on time, there shouldn't be a problem! Unless,
"I'm sorry Professor" Sirius said in his most innocent voice "Madame Pomfrey said Remus had to stay in bed all of Friday and I had to help him."
"You had to help him stay in bed?" McGonagall asked, clearly seeing through Sirius' lie.
"Yes, he may not look it, but Remus is a bit mental when it comes to education!" Sirius exclaimed "I was worried I would have to tie him to the bedposts to keep him from disobeying Madame Pomfrey's orders"
"well," Professor McGonagall said, calculating her options, "Mr. Black it appears you don't have your books, ten points from Gryffindor. Everyone get in your seats!"
"You lied about the Friday off!" I whispered to Sirius as he sat down next to me
"Yes of course I did," he whispered back "I thought you knew I was lying"
"Why would you think that? That makes no sense!"
"No schools have the first Friday off, and the first day of classes is written on all the letters." Sirius said "I thought you were just playing along"
Sirius Black, the last name sounded familiar to Remus. Were they a family friend, no, all he knew for sure was that Sirius was not a fan of his last name and would probably get him into a lot of trouble for years to come.
