official song: misery- maroon 5
“How about Claire and Jonathan: we go hard or we go home!” I suggested. “That’s a pretty good catch phrase for us, if I do say so myself. It sure packs a punch.”
Jonathan rolled his eyes and kept staring out the window at the trees flying by our car. “Everything you have said for our ‘sibling name’ has been terrible. I’d rather we just keep it simple and go with Claire and Jonathan Ogner, the Foxfield and Vernon siblings.”
“No. You know that Claire Michaela Ogner does not keep it simple. She never has and she definitely never will. And, plus, they are so many siblings between Vernon and Foxfield, Jonathan, it’s insane. I can’t even begin to name them all, okay.”
“I can see that about the not keeping it simple part. Huge earrings, leg warmers, miniskirt and sweater? And in all neon? Claire has never kept it simple.” Jonathan smirked and I hit his chest lightly. “Why don’t we just ditch the entire nickname thing?”
“No. We will not be just another family. We will stand out in the crowd!”
He shook his head timidly. “No way. I’m gonna try to keep a low profile here.”
“Too late, when people find out that you’re related to me, you’re gonna instantly have a high profile. And anyway, I got it! I got a good name for us!” I said, snapping my fingers. My earrings brushed the side of my neck.
“Oh, no, here it goes.” He put his face to his hands stressfully.
“Don’t have that kinda attitude. I’m gonna knock your wooly socks off. It’s the Ogner Siblings: King of Shoulder Pads and Queen of All Things Neon.”
He groaned. “Out of everything you have suggested, I like the Notorious Ogner Siblings the best.”
“Sounds good. Want any last advice before we go to Vernon?” I asked.
“I would take it, Jonathan. We are about two minutes away. Claire, we are going to drop you both off at Vernon Academy. Can you take your stuff over to Foxfield?’’ Mom piped in from the front seat. “Would it be too far of a walk?”
“Yeah. And if I need help, I know Jonathan will help me. Hurry up, you’re running out of time! Claire Confidential!”
“Hmm. Let’s see.” Jonathan began to think as the trees ended and all we saw out the window was a never-ending field of open space.
“Hurry up, Jonathan. The trees are gone.”
“What does that have anything to do with what we’re talking about?”
“When the trees end, that means we are one mile away. This is your last chance before senior year,” I said tauntingly.
