"i'm gonna die!!"
"hobi, you're not gonna die," namjoon yelled over the whipping wind, which sent his hair flying in the craziest directions.
jimin peered over the edge of the small plane. his heart thudded wildly as he gripped onto taehyung's hand for dear life.
taehyung gave jimin's hand a reassuring squeeze. "i'm guessing this is your first time skydiving," he said, smiling at jimin. "trust me, it's really fun. you have nothing to worry about."
jimin nodded, attempting to gather courage. he took a deep breath, mentally preparing himself for the jump.
hobi, on the other hand, couldn't stop panicking. "what if the parachute doesn't work?" he fretted. "what if there's a bird or a plane and it kills me or something?"
yoongi suppressed an eye roll. "here," he offered, taking hoseok's hand in his own. "i'll hold your hand, okay? i won't let you die. it'll be fun."
hoseok clasped yoongi's hand in his own, his feet trembling. "dying isn't fun," he whimpered.
the instructor signaled that it was alright to jump. yoongi decided to go first, thought obviously, hoseok was against it.
"i wanna go home," hoseok cried.
yoongi let out an exasperated sigh and leapt off the ledge, dragging poor hoseok with him. they disappeared from eyesight, tumbling into the sky below them. hobi's loud screams and protests grew quieter and quieter as they plummeted towards the ground, causing the rest of the group to chuckle.
namjoon and seokjin were the next pair to jump. even seokjin, who was the typical scaredy-cat, soared off fearlessly.
taehyung flashed a reassuring smile at jimin, who was still rather nervous. that was enough to calm jimin down.
"three, two, one," the instructor counted down before giving the duo the green light to jump.
his hand still tightly wrapped around taehyung's, jimin leapt off. he let out a squeal as the began to fall into the empty air below him. the feeling of tumbling towards the ground below them was nothing but exhilarating. as the wind whipped around his face, he flashed a euphoric smile at taehyung; taehyung had been right. it was beyond fun. he felt free. the rising sun shone directly in their faces, painting the sky pink, illuminating the beaches and cities below them. it was just barely past early morning.
the anxious knot in jimin's stomach unraveled as he stared at the scenery in awe, his eyes wide and mouth open. he let out a scream of happiness.
the bare, grassy ground drew closer and closer, widening in front of jimin's eyes as he plummeted. he felt himself jolt backwards as the parachute shot open, slowing his descent. he rotated himself so that he could hold onto the strings, still floating next to taehyung.
"that was amazing," jimin gasped, his heart still thumping from the exhilaration. "oh my god."
"told you," taehyung chuckled. "i'm glad you enjoyed it."
jimin nodded and looked below him, where plumes of vibrant, colorful parachutes dotted the ground. as they continued to float towards the field, he made out the terrified expression of hoseok as well as the exasperated one of yoongi. namjoon and seokjin were not too far from them.
jimin and taehyung's feet simultaneously touched the ground. the parachutes sunk down to the ground behind them.
"that wasn't so bad, was it?" taehyung teased hobi, who was still shaking in his shoes.
"i wanna go home," hoseok whimpered again.
"we just got here," jimin laughed as he took off his gear. "lighten up."
the group thanked the staff before heading out of the area, onto the bustling streets.
"we gotta find the bus stop," taehyung said, his hand shielding his eyes from the blinding sun. "our next activity is in a couple of hours."
"what are we doing next?" jimin inquired.
"it's a surprise," taehyung responded, smirking slightly. he intertwined his hand with jimin's, swinging it back and forth. "but don't worry. it'll be fun."
hoseok groaned, his face a light shade of green. "you said skydiving would be fun, too."
"you're such a coward," yoongi teased and reached up, pecking hoseok on the cheek. "did you even look at the view?"
"i had my eyes closed the entire time," hoseok confessed, his cheeks reddening. "it was terrifying."
the bus arrived, which fortunately wasn't very crowded. the boys filed on, sitting side by side in the back of the bus.
jimin pulled out his phone and began to play candy crush.
taehyung leaned his head on jimin's shoulder, peeking at his phone. "what level are you on?"
"like, one hundred or something," jimin responded, keeping his focus on the game.
"really?" taehyung said. "i'm past one thousand."
jimin snorted, staring at his boyfriend in disbelief. "how much do you play that game?!"
the taller boy shrugged. "i'm an avid candy crush enthusiast."
the group stayed on the bus for a while, simply chatting or competing on candy crush. the bus finally stopped by a dock positioned by the vast ocean.
"we're here." taehyung grinned and got off, followed by the other five. taehyung headed off to a small booth by the dock and struck up a conversation with the man who was standing there.
jimin grinned as he read the signs posted on the booth. "we're going scuba diving!"
"oh shit," hoseok muttered. "are there sharks?"
"you bet," namjoon responded, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
hoseok squeaked as his face turned pale. he hesitantly followed as the rest of the boys headed off to one of the boats and grabbed their gear.
the older man who had stood at the booth earlier followed them in. the engine got revved up and the boat began to move, water churning behind it.
"oh my god. we're gonna die," hobi murmured as he stared into the beautiful blue abyss.
"you're not going to die," taehyung whacked the back of hoseok's head with his hand. "sharks aren't actually that dangerous. scuba diving will be fun, okay?"
"sharks are not fun," hoseok argued, seriously pondering whether he should have stayed at home.
jimin pulled his scuba gear on. the sun was already rather high in the blue sky; it was getting quite late. "you can't enjoy anything if you're always scared," jimin snorted.
"i don't think i'll enjoy getting eaten by sharks," hoseok countered.
"for the last time." namjoon rolled his eyes. "you won't get eaten by sharks."
seokjin bit his lip harshly, clearly also showing some signs of hesitation. "hoseok's right," he muttered. "there are sharks in here."
taehyung sighed as he headed to the edge of the boat. "you guys are such wimps," he teased before flipping over the edge, landing in the ocean with a big splash.
"here goes nothing," jimin murmured and leapt off, cannonballing into the ice cold water, which took him by surprise. his eyes immediately widened at the sight in front of him; bright splashes of corals dotted the reef. fish of every color and size swam among the green and orange strings of seaweed poking through the yellow sand.
taehyung sat in the middle, staring at all the wonders around him. he flashed a thumbs up to jimin.
it was only the second day, but jimin was having the time of his life.
