jimin flipped the page of his book with one hand as he held his lopsided straw hat still with the other. the breeze was rather strong at the beach, which was a constant nuisance; jimin's hat had been dragged off by the wind three times that day.
the short boy's feet sifted through the soft sand as taehyung, yoongi, and hoseok dumped a bunch of sand on him, covering his legs up and burying him underneath the sand. jimin adjusted his dark sunglasses; they kept sliding off his nose, for they were too big. they were actually taehyung's, but his boyfriend had been kind enough to let jimin borrow them. the sun shone directly above them, casting scalding beams of sunshine upon the boys.
"it's so hot," yoongi complained as he leaned back, sitting on his knees. he wiped his brow, which was misted with sweat. hot was an understatement; it was searing.
"go swimming," taehyung suggested. "namjoon and seokjin are already in the ocean."
jimin bent the corner of his page and closed his interesting book, gently setting it on the beach towel beside him. "swimming does sound good right now," jimin piped up as he stretched his arms above him.
"what about sharks?" hoseok fretted. "there are sharks in hawaii."
"there won't be any sharks this close to the shore," yoongi reassured his boyfriend and wrapped an arm around his waist, pulling him up towards the crashing waves.
"as long as you protect me," hoseok laughed, pecking yoongi's forehead with a kiss. "i'll be fine."
"let's go." taehyung smiled at jimin and reached out a hand, pulling him up from the hot ground.
jimin brushed off any remaining sand from his feet and set his book on the edge of his hat to keep it from flying away. he clasped his hand around taehyung's and interlocked their fingers before walking off towards the ocean, where hoseok and yoongi were already having a water fight.
the piercing screeches of seagulls echoed above their heads as a small, white airplane zoomed through the sky, an advertisement for a luau trailing behind it. lots of people dotted the beach, along with jimin spotted namjoon and seokjin's heads bobbing in the distance.
taehyung smirked slyly at his boyfriend. "race you," he exclaimed and suddenly sprinted off towards the blue ocean, leaving a spluttering jimin behind.
"that's not fair!" jimin complained, racing after him. jimin was typically quite a fast runner, but his shorter legs slowed him down as he attempted to run through the silky sand. "you got a head start!"
taehyung turned around and stuck his tongue out as he ran backwards into the ocean, tripping and falling over into the cold water.
jimin laughed at the scene as he splashed into the ocean, which was pleasantly cool and refreshing. he immediately flopped in, sighing contentedly as the water chilled his body. "damn," he commented, his eyes fluttering shut. "that feels great."
"you know what else is great?" taehyung asked, a teasing undertone present in his voice as waded towards the shorter boy.
jimin hummed questioningly, forcing his eyes open.
"you," taehyung whispered into jimin's ear as his hand traveled to the back of jimin's neck, as if about to kiss him.
jimin chuckled softly and closed his eyes again, expecting to feel taehyung's soft lips against his. instead, his face was abruptly hit with a wave of chilliness as taehyung suddenly pushed his head into the water with his hand.
jimin resurfaced, hacking and spluttering. "you dick," he choked out, his hair completely soaked. he leapt onto taehyung's back, dragging him down into the water with him.
however, taehyung was stronger. he grabbed jimin's arms and pulled him towards him before picking him up, bridal style, and pulling him out of the water.
"don't you dare." jimin attempted to feebly struggle out of taehyung's clutches, though obviously, he was rather unsuccessful. "kim taehyung, if you dare throw me into the water, i'm gonna-"
jimin was cut short as taehyung mercilessly flung him into the blue waves.
