"My idols are dead and my enemies are in power"

Mercedes P.O.V

The hairs on my arms immediately stood straight up, and goosebumps began to form as I took a step into the completely empty room.

"I-I don't understand" I stuttered as I tried to comprehend what was happening.

Was Aurora actually real? Was she just a figment of my imagination? Was she a ghost? Was I being set up?

Nothing was making sense to me, I don't understand how someone could just disappear with no trace. Especially since I was just with her.

That's it, I was standing with her when Derek came to yell at me.

I quickly turned my body to face Derek's, desperation and the need for validation clear in my eyes.

"When you came up to me earlier, to talk to me I was standing with Aurora please tell me you remember" I pleaded as my voice began to shake.

Come on you're my last hope.

Derek placed a comforting hand on my shoulder as pity started to fill his aura.

"Mercedes, you were standing alone."

As those words fell from his lips my heart completely sank. Everything the mistress had said to me began to repeatedly play back in my head.

'Aurora isn't real'

'Nobody by the name of Aurora goes to this school'

All the memories that I thought I had made with Aurora kept flashing in my mind making me feel dizzy. I just wanted to scream, where's aurora and how did she just vanish.

Was she okay?

Did something happen to her?

Was she in trouble?

Is she even real?

My anxiety started to flare up as I began shaking and gasping for air. Derek immediately wrapped his arms around me trying to provide me comfort but at this point nothing could help me.

Am I crazy?

My chest felt as though it was tightening and the air in my lungs became paper thin as I watched the room spin around me.

"How did you even find this room anyways it's closed off, nobody is allowed over here." Mrs. Divines voice spoke out.

Everything felt and sounded like I was underwater, as genuine tears continuously flowed down my face.

      Tears full of fear
      Tears full of anger
      Tears full of confusion

                    "I'm not crazy"

That was the last thing I remember before a loud ringing noise filled my ears causing me to hit the ground, and everything around me going black.
