Zach's P.O.V
The doorbell rang. Noah was here! I ran down the steps, almost tripping. Once I got to the front door without dying, I looked at my reflection in my phone and smoothed out my hair and quickly pulled it back. I slid my phone into my pocket, then reaching to open the door. Noah greeted me with a smile and a hug. A hug! I invited him in and we went straight to my room. I sat down on the bed, while Noah looked around my room. His eyes made their way to my desk and saw a family picture. Me, Kylie, Kevin, Trish, Mom, and Dad. I quickly jumped off the bed, snatching the picture from him before he had a good chance to look at it.
"Zach, what the hell?! I was just trying to look at it!" He said, a bit upset.
"Sorry, it's just that I don't like people to look at this picture." I said, sitting it back down.
"It's fine. I want to know more about you, though. Who are they?" He asked, pointing to Kylie and Kevin.
"That's Kylie, and that's Kevin. They were my brother and sister. If you couldn't tell, they were twins." I said, breaking eye contact.
"What do you mean, 'were'?" He asked, not knowing the story of my family.
"They.. died. We were all in a plane crash." I said, looking back up at him.
"Oh.. Zach, I'm sorry. Please don't cry.." He said, coming to sit with me on the bed. I hadn't even realized I was crying until he said something.
"Oh. Sorry." I said, blushing.
"No. Don't apologize. So this is Trish? She had to be about 15, right?" He asked. Pointing to the picture again.
"Yeah, she was 14 in this picture." I said, smiling.
"If you don't mind me asking, she had two -- well, real legs in this picture." He said, placing his hand on top of mine.
"Yeah, in the crash, her leg got cut off. I don't really remember it, but I was supposedly there. I was pretty young when it happened. I guess that's a good thing." I said, looking down at our touching hands.
"Why do you say that?" He asked.
"I guess it's a good thing to not remember. Trish still has nightmares about the crash." I said, opening up more and more.
"Oh, I guess that makes sense." He said, smiling at me.
"Oh! Uh, Trish is ordering us a pizza." I said, breaking the silence.
"Oh, cool! You told her Meat Lovers, right?" He asked, already knowing the answer.
"Duh! I'd never forget my boyfriend's favorite pizza." I said, immediately regretting it afterwards. I looked away, blushing.
"You think I'm your boyfriend?" He said.
"Uh, well, I guess, I don't know. Do you wanna be my boyfriend?" I said, looking back at him.
"Uh, well, of course!" He said, holding my hand tighter than before.
"Boys! Pizza's here!" We heard Trish shout. We looked at each other before laughing. Timing, coincidences. Once we stopped laughing, we got up and went downstairs. All three of us sat down, 3 pizza boxes in front of us. I opened my box and took 2 slices. I ate them fairly quick. I just wanted to go back up to my room with Noah. We both finished and got up to leave the dining room, just as Trish said something.
"Where are you guys going in such a rush?" She asked. Oh god, did she know? she couldn't know, right? Right?
"We wanna go play video games." I said, without thinking.
"Oh, okay. Don't do anything too wild. I'm gonna go to bed." She said, grabbing all 3 plates. Noah and I rushed upstairs, sitting in the same exact spots we were in. We stared at each other for a while before bursting out laughing.
"What?" We both said at the same time, making us laugh even more. Noah took off his glasses to wipe his eyes. I took this as the perfect opportunity to kiss him. He put his glasses back on and kissed me back. He slowly put his hand up my shirt, against my back. I did the same thing. I had never done this before, had he? I thought. He lifted my shirt up and over my head and threw it on the ground. I did the same with his. All over his body were bruises and scratches. He must have noticed me staring because he grabbed the blanket and covered himself up. Had I just ruined what was about to happen? Was that for the best?
"Hey, talk to me. Sorry for staring." I said, embarrassed.
"Oh, uh those are just from playing football.." He said, looking away from me.
"No, they're not. Noah, you don't seem like the type of kid to play football. What are those actually from?" I asked, concerned.
"Home stuff, okay? It's really nothing." He said, looking back at me.
"Alright, I'll drop it, but if you need someone to talk to, talk to me, okay?" I said.
"Zach, you're a really good boyfriend. What did I do to deserve you?" He asked, tears brimming his eyes.
"You're the good boyfriend. But why are you crying?" I asked, confused.
"I.. I don't know. It's just nobody has cared about the this much before. It sounds stupid, nevermind.." He said, trailing off.
"It's not stupid. You listened to my story. Let me listen to yours." I said, standing up.
"Why? Nobody cares about me." He said, putting his shirt back on.
"Stop, don't say that. I care about you." I said, stepping closer to him.
"Why?" He asked, genuinely confused.
"Because, you are an amazing person. I really like you." I said, not really good at speeches like that.
"You truly believe that?" He asked me.
"Yeah, I do. So, lets sit back down and watch a movie." I said, grabbing his hand and leading him towards the bed. About 30 minutes into the movie, Noah took off his shirt and laid down. After about 20 more minutes, he fell asleep. I quietly took his glasses off his face and placed them on my dresser. I observed him while he slept. He snored lightly and smiled a bit. I laid down next to him and he put his arm around me. Yeah, I thought, life is good.
