You woke up to the sound of your alarm ringing. That annoying sound that would always snap you back into reality. "Ugh, five more minutes." You groaned covering your face with the poofy pillow that used to be under your head. The ferocious thing kept ringing uncontrollably, finally bringing you up to your feet making you storm towards it.
"I'm never going to be able to have a good night sleep am I?" You said turning off the device that you purposely put on the other end of your room so that you would have to get up to turn off. Time to start the day. You thought as you rubbed your eyes on the way to the bathroom.
You began your daily routine which consisted of brushing your teeth, untangling your hair and getting out of your pajamas. You turned to look at the time, the clock marking 7:25. God I'm going to be late to work. Quickly hurrying out of your room you bolted your way to the kitchen fridge.
You lived alone in a small house in Red Lodge Montana, never really the type to have friends. Your parents had died in a car accident when you were little leaving you in an orphanage. You became very independent as you grew up, always doing things on your own. When you finally had age to go on on your own, you decided to get a job and buy a house. You've been alone since, no friends or family to support you. Just you.
You scanned the fridge, looking for something that could serve as a quick breakfast. "Old banana? Yuck." You grimaced. An apple will do. You headed to the door taking a look at yourself before walking out.
It was the middle of September, it usually got kind of cold during the fall days in Red lodge, but because you worked at a diner you had to wear a red dress that went down mid thigh and a white apron over it. You grabbed your sweater from the coat rack beside the door and headed out into the driveway.
Long ago, before your dad had died he made a testimony, leaving his old black 1967 Chevy Impala in your hands. You were only 10 at the time, but when you reached 18 you were finally able to drive the bad boy. You loved the thing, it was one of the few belongings you had left of him, and knowing it was yours made you happy.
You sat inside, turning on the engine and making your way to work. The restaurant was only 10 minutes away from home, making you arrive just in time. 7:59.
You unlocked the door entering the building, setting your coat and keys under the counter. You picked your hair up into a pony tail making sure nothing was in your face and started setting everything up, checking that every table had saltshakers and menus. Rufus, the cook came in through the back door, giving you a friendly smile as he walked to the kitchen. "Good morning (Y/N)! How are you doing today?" He said tying his apron around his Santa like body. " "Pretty good Rufus!" You smiled as you finished off with the last table. "All right then, lets get workin' , we've got a line of people waiting outside with hungry bellies! Open up and seat em'!" He said, the grill already sizzling in the background.
This was your life every single day, same routine again and again. You wanted much more than just a boring life. The people coming in and out of the diner where the only thing that seemed to change, and still you made no friends. God I need to get out of here. You turned to look at the clock, 3:00 p.m it marked. You sighed happily, glad that your shift was finally over. You grabbed your stuff and hurried out the door jumping inside your car, arriving at your house in no time. Its been a while since I've gone out. You though as you slouched on the couch, turning to look at the pictures hung on the wall. There were many of you posing with your parents in front of museums or buildings. But your favorite one was the one were you and your father were hugging, a beautiful mountain scenery behind both of you.
A tear formed as you remembered that day, The day he taught you everything you now knew of the woods and nature itself. That's exactly what I am going to do. You thought heading to the basement for you hiking gear. "This should be fun."
