Charlie's POV

The drive with Liam to his house was silent. Liam stared out the window the whole time with his arms crossed. I felt terrible for what I had done to him. He didn't deserve that, especially not when he's in the emotional state that he's in right now. I'm glad I got it off my chest but I didn't think I'd feel so horrible about it.

Liam packed up his stuff while I chatted with his mom in the kitchen.

"He looks even worse than before." she commented after he ran upstairs to his room.

I scratched my neck. "Yeah, he just lost it, I guess."

I didn't want to fill her in on the details of me confessing my love to Liam's best friend. If they even are friends anymore...they're still friends...right?

"I made some brownies today, the gooey chocolate ones are Liam's favorite." she said, pulling out the brownies from the pantry.

"The gooey ones are my favorite too." I half-smiled with a watering mouth. Those brownies looked amazing and probably tasted like heaven. I've come to know that Liam likes the best foods. If he likes something, then you'll most likely love it too.

"Would you like one, dear?" she asked as she set a few brownies out on a plate.

"Um... no thanks." I regretfully said. "All I have to do is smell a bit of chocolate and I put on a boulder."

She waved away the comment. "Nonsense! You're in perfect shape and what better way to reward yourself than with a brownie?"

I gave in. "I guess I could have one," I reached for a brownie which then turned into four. I felt like a pig but it was worth it.

"Do you mind if I go check in Liam?" I questioned while pointing to the stairs leading up to his room.

"Of course! You'll find his room right up there." she said and I gave her a small smile.

The stairs creaked with each step and I wondered if I had gained weight from the brownies. I found Liam's room easily because there was a batman poster on the front door. I knocked and then walked in his room. Liam was sitting on his bed, zipping up his suitcase.

"I just need to get a few things from the bathroom and then we can leave." he announced, not looking at me. I stepped aside so he could walk out the door and his shoulder accidentally brushed against mine.

I looked around his room and I saw the cardboard cutout of Liam that I had seen in the This Is Us movie. It was sticking out a bit from inside his closet which I found a bit creepy.

There were loads of pictures on his wall. Posters of his favorite artists, movies, and even a few One Direction posters. He had some pictures from the X Factor and some other ones that I've never seen of him and the boys.

There was a picture frame flipped upside down and I picked it up to see the picture. It was him with a curly haired girl on his back. She was beautiful and I oddly remembered her from somewhere.

"That's Dani." I heard Liam say, startling me.

"S-sorry." I stuttered and put the picture back where I had found it.

Liam strode over, still not looking at me, and picked up the picture. "Dani was special. She was the one for me, I knew she was. I don't think I'll ever find anyone like her again."

"If you feel this way about her, then why did you two split?" I wondered.

He sighed and I realized that he still looked just as miserable as before. "Things got in the way. Our careers, our fans, our schedules. It was all just a mess." he explained. "I still love her though. Is that wrong?"
