Chapter 14

Ethan's P.O.V.

I park my car in the front yard.I don't want to enter that damn door because I know Avery is going to be there and I don't know what the fuck to tell her.

I breathe out heavily and decide to knock on the door and in a fee seconds Avery opens it,she looks calm.

'Hey.'I say quietly and walk in the door.

'I see you're free now.'I spot sarcasm in her voice.

'Yea Avery,sorry for earlier,some friend just called me,needed my help.'I say and hope she doesn't ask any more questions.

'Some friend?And whenever that some friend calls you,you rush out like that?'

'Avery..'I start but stop,I don't know what to tell her,she doesn't take her eyes off of me.

'What Ethan?'

'You have nothing to worry about.'I cut shortly.

'Really?Maybe I wouldn't if you didn't act so weird lately.'

'Weird?'I raise my brows.

'Yes weird,whenever your phone calls your mood just changes completely,you become freaky and kinda angry I guess.I don't know what to think!'Avery shrugs.

'You don't have to think anything Avery,I just told you everything is just fine,trust me.'I assure her one more time.

'Then tell me where were you.'She says firmly.

'I was helping a friend,I told you.Oh my god since when did you become so nosy?'

'Nosy?!I just want to know where my boyfriend was!There is nothing wrong nor nosy in that!'She raises hands in the air,as if everything this was ridiculous.

I remain silent,I can't think of anything to tell her and I'm afraid if I says something,it'll just make worse.

'You know earlier..before you rushed out..'She starts chuckling.'I wanted to apologize to you for being so pushy,I figured you might have been stressed with everything that's going on with your dad but..then I saw some old phone you had and..Ethan I'm not stupid,I know you're hiding something and please tell me because if you won't it will end badly.'Avery says and looks at me.

'Listen Avery,you've no idea what you're talking about.If I tell  you then it will end badly,it's better for you if you don't know anything.'I say remaining as calm as possible.

If I don't stay calm,my temper will get the best of me and we will end up fighting again.

As she is about to say something my phone rings again and I curse loudly.

'What the fuck do you want?!'I yell at Bella in the phone.

'Ethan!You have to meet me right now,Rhett and his men were spotted by police and they thought it was us and they attacked us.'She says panicking and I almost feel sorry for her.

'Hold on,where are you?'

'I'll text you the address but you have to come here as fast as you can,they shot two our men,they're dead.Luckily I wasn't shot too bad..but I need help,I can't go to the hospital so please Ethan you have to help me!'

'Fine,just don't worry I'm on my way.'I say and hang up.

Avery looks at me shocked and for a second I don't move.

'Ave I have to..'

'Go!'

'Avery listen..'

'When I said I was listening you chose to say nothing so now just go Ethan!'She yells and I leave the house shocked.

I know I fucked up,I know I shouldn't have left her again!But if I don't go and help Bella right now,Leonard will find out and he will hurt Avery and that's the last thing I want.

As selfish as it sounds,I prefer Avery to be mad at me,than be dead.

I see Bella texted me her address and I quickly drive out of the yard,on the way I stop at the drugstore to get her some bandages and stuff like that.

Finally I stop my car in front of an abandoned building,I guess it's probably one of Leonard's places.

I enter the building and take the elevator on the next floor,when I leave the elevator I see a room with a light in it.I enter it and see Bella laying down on a table unconscious.

'Bella!'I yell at her but she's unconscious again,I guess she couldn't bare the pain so she lost her conscious.

I saw she had a bullet in her right leg,I took it out and wrapped a bandage around it,in a few seconds she opened her eyes.

'Oh thank god.'I muttered quietly.

'Ethan?'

'Yes Bella that's my name.'I rolled my eyes at her.

'Can you be nice once?'She asks annoyed.

'I have no reason to.'I say dryly.

'Oh my god Ethan,it's not my fault that you have to work for Leonard god damn it!'She raises her voice.

'Yea but getting shot is the reason why my girlfriend isn't talking to me!'I fire back.

'Ohhh I see,so you haven't told her about all this then?'

'No why the fuck would I?'

'Because she is your girlfriend and she deserves to know what you're doing.'

'You just don't get it.'I shake my head.

'Doesn't matter Ethan,she needs to know.'

'I said you don't fucking get it Bella so shut the fuck up!'I yell at her and suddenly I see fear in her eyes.

'I'm sorry..I just..can't tell her that I'm still in this damned business..after everything..'I lower my voice.

'I think you need a distraction.'She says and I back off.

'Don't you dare.'I warn her.

'I wasn't thinking about fucking you Ethan chill,I think you should go to the bar and drink..have fun..'She smiles.

'I don't think that's a good idea.'

'It's a better idea than fighting with your girlfriend.'She says.

'But I have to talk to her,she's gonna be mad at me.'

'She is already mad at you considering your face so,you need to think about yourself too,just go get drunk,wasted,forget about her for one night.'Bella sounded like a devil,I knew it.

'I'll figure something out.I'll leave you some painkillers and bandages,are you gonna be alright?'I ask her before leaving.

'Yes I'll stay here for a while,I have food and stuff here so I should be alright.'She assures me and I nod.

I leave the building and get in my car.

I recall everything that Bella told me.It really is a bad idea,leaving Avery and going in bar to get drunk,but Bella is kinda right.

I should chill,I should forget about everything for one night.I know this won't help anything,god it may even make everything worse but my demons are battling inside of me,pulling me back from thinking straight.

I start the car with a terrible noise and push the gas pedal way too harsh,I rush out of the parking lot and drive in the direction that has never gotten me in anything good.
