 Chapter 1: the first day.

Sauli walked quietly and shyly into the classroom. Today was his first day of his senior year in high school and he was nervous. Apart from the first day nervousness that he always got, today was even worse. Sauli was at a brand new high school in a brand new country.

Sauli took a seat in a desk near the back of the classroom. The hot august sun was shining through the windows and gleaming off his blonde hair. What if the other kids made fun of his hair? What if they made fun of how short he was…or didn’t like him because he was gay? Finally the morning bell rung loudly and the teacher walked in. The teacher had silky, black hair and beautiful, blue eyes that reminded Sauli of the ocean.

“Good morning students. I’m Mr. Lambert and I’ll be your homeroom teacher for this school year. I’m excited to spend the year teaching you and getting to know you. I hope we’ll have lots of fun together.” The teacher said loudly.

Sauli was a little shocked at the sound of the teacher’s voice. It was charming and soothing. It wasn’t boring like he had remembered the teachers back home had sounded. This was a good thing because it was the worst thing ever listening to someone talk with a boring voice for extended amounts of time.

“Since it’s the first day, here’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to go around the classroom and when it’s your turn say your name and tell us something about you. I know this sounds like what you did in elementary school but it’ll help me remember your names. We’ll switch it up and start in the back of the classroom.”

Sauli’s heart started to beat faster when he heard Mr. Lambert say they would start from the back of the classroom. That would mean he would have to go second. He didn’t want to go second. He’d rather not go at all. Mr. Lambert pointed to the kid beside Sauli.

“I’m Bryce and…. Uhm… I like sports and girls.” The student next to him said.

What a stereotypical American guy Sauli thought to his self.

“You”, Mr. Lambert said, pointing at Sauli, “You’re the new kid, right? It’s your turn.”

“Yes. I’m Sauli and… I’m from Finland.” He said quietly.

“Finland? That’s pretty awesome.” The teacher replied with a smile.

Sauli thought the smile was dazzling. Was this really happening? He just stared at Mr. Lambert the whole time until each student had finished introducing themselves. He noticed a lot of detail about the teacher’s face. Mr. Lambert was sexy. This was strange, how had he become so attracted to a teacher in such a short amount of time? No one could ever find this out or it’d be the end of him.

“Alright, that was good. Maybe I can start remembering all your names now. Next, I’m going to pass out these papers that you need to take home. Just read over them and then get them signed by a parent. They are due on Wednesday but if you turn them in tomorrow you’ll get two points extra credit on a future assignment.” Mr. Lambert said.

Sauli sat and waited patiently for his paper. Mr. Lambert came around to every desk and gave each student the paper. He sat the paper on Sauli’s desk and smiled at him. Sauli smiled back shyly. The scent of Mr. Lambert’s cologne lingered in the air as he walked back towards the front of the classroom. Sauli breathed in deep, the scent was intoxicating. It had a crisp outdoors but yet sweet smell to it.

“Ok. The bell will ring in a few minutes. You will all report to your 1st block class.” Mr. Lambert stated.

The bell rung and Sauli stood up looking at his schedule. His 1st block class was chemistry in room 56. He had no idea where that room was even at. All the other students hurried out of the class and Sauli was the last one. Before he made it out the door, Mr. Lambert called out his name.
