Chapter 4: Daily Lessons.

Sauli woke up Monday morning with bags under his eyes. The whole night had been miserable. It’d be a miracle if he had gotten 4 hours of sleep. He just hadn’t been able to get comfortable and his mind was buzzing about Mr. Lambert all night.

“Sauli, you don’t look so good.” His mom said as she walked into his bedroom to make sure he was awake. “You can stay home today if you want to. I know the first week of school must have been stressful and tiring.”

“No, I’m fine mom. I can go to school today. I’m just a little tired, that’s all.” Sauli insisted. In any other circumstance he would have gladly stayed home if his mom suggested it but it was different now. Back in Finland he didn’t have a sexy teacher waiting for him. The thought of not seeing Mr. Lambert made him grimace internally.

“Oh, ok, if that’s what you want. Anyways, I’m going to tell you before I forget, your father and I won’t be home when you get home from school today. I have a meeting at work and he is going to pick me up and take us to dinner.” Sauli’s mom said.

“Okay.” Sauli answered and his mom left his room. He crawled out of bed and went straight towards the bathroom to take a shower. There was no way he could go to school looking like this. He got dressed in his favorite white skinny jeans and black T-shirt and styled his hair the best he could. Looking good for class today was a priority.

Finally it was time for homeroom. Sauli walked anxiously into Mr. Lambert’s class. The teacher looked gorgeous, as always. Bryce was already in his desk and made a face when Sauli sat down.

“What is it with you? Why do you seem so happy to be here? It’s a Monday morning you don’t even look tired.” Bryce questioned.

“I went to bed early last night, there’s no reason for me to be tired.” Sauli answered nervously. Bryce made him nervous with his questions and the look on his face that showed disgust.

          “Whatever… fag.” Bryce said back.

Bryce’s mean words cut into Sauli like a knife. He wished he could not care about what other’s thought of him but he did. The name just swirled around in his thoughts, lowering his self- confidence by the minute. Suddenly Sauli heard a voice behind him.

“Bryce, go to the office.” Mr. Lambert said firmly.

All the quiet chatter that had been going on in the classroom stopped immediately. All eyes were on Bryce.

“Why? I didn’t do anything?” Bryce said back

“There are two reasons now. Firstly, you called someone a fag, that’s considered bullying. Secondly, you just talked back to the teacher.” Mr. Lambert answered.

Every student in the class was dead silent and all attention was on the Bryce and the teacher. No one ever thought that Bryce would get sent to the office. He was considered a good student and had a good reputation.

“Get your things and start heading towards the office.” Mr. Lambert said.

Bryce was embarrassed and angry. Everyone could tell by looking at his face. “Fine.” He said loudly. He grabbed his things and stomped out of the classroom.

Mr. Lambert returned to the front of the classroom as the bell rang. “Just read your books for the rest of class today.” He said. His voice didn’t have the usual charm and happiness to it.
