Chapter 5: losing it.

The school week was finally over. Sauli was standing in front of his locker holding the note from Mr. Lambert in his hands.

“Give me that.” Someone said angrily from behind him.

Bryce grabbed the note out of Sauli’s hands and read it out loud in a mock voice. “Aw, someone has a fun weekend planned. Is this from a secret admirer? How cute.”

“Give me that back.” Sauli said nervously. He still didn’t have enough confidence to stand up to Bryce, or any other bully.

“Whatever” Bryce said and threw the note at Sauli’s face before walking away.

Sauli hurried home and tried thinking of an excuse for being gone all weekend. Nothing was coming to mind and he was beginning to panic. Finally, after pacing across his bedroom floor for ten straight minutes an idea crept into his mind. Since his mom and dad knew he was gay they wouldn’t find it strange if he went to a weekend sleepover with some girls. Sauli could tell his mother that he was invited to a weekend sleepover at his new friend Katri’s house. He put a pair of pajama pants and another outfit into a bag, along with his toothbrush. That would make his story more believable.

“Bye mom.” Sauli said as he walked out of his front door. “I’ll be gone until Sunday. I have an all weekend sleepover at Katri’s house. She’s that girl I hung out with yesterday, remember?”

“Is her mom alright with a guy coming over for a sleepover?” his mom questioned.

“She’s alright with me coming over for it because she knows I won’t try anything with any of the girls.” Sauli said.

“Oh, alright, have fun.” She said and continued on watching the tv.

Sauli was so excited and relieved that his lie had gone through. He wondered what would happen this weekend. It had to be good even if they did nothing at all because he loved spending time in the presence of Mr. Lambert.

When Sauli arrived at the park the silver BMW was already there. Adam got out of his vehicle before Sauli had a chance to get out of his. The teacher walked over to the driver’s side window and Sauli rolled it down.

          “Hey.” Mr. Lambert said.

          “Hi.” Sauli smiled.

“I want you to just follow me to my house in your car this time. People might start to notice something’s going on if they see your car at the park until Sunday. Anyways, did you find a way to be gone for the weekend?” Mr. Lambert said.

“Yes, I told my mom I was going to an all weekend sleepover at Katri’s house and she believed me. I stuck a pair of pajama pants, some clothes, and my toothbrush in a bag to make it seem more believable.” Sauli replied.
