Chapter 7: the rumors

Sauli dialed Bryce’s number on his phone. It rung three times before someone answered.

“Hello.” Bryce’s voice said through the phone.

“Bryce, it’s me, Sauli.” He said.

“Oh, what do you want teacher’s boy?” Bryce’s voice had a rude tone to it.

“What do I have to do to keep you quiet about Mr. Lambert and I?” Sauli asked.

“Well, that’s a good question, isn’t it?” Bryce snickered. “I want you to quit being around him. I want you to tell him that you hate him.”

“No way” Sauli said back. He would never say such a thing to Adam.

“Well, then I might just decide to tell someone you never know.”

“Bryce, I know you hate me, but please don’t tell anyone. It would basically ruin Mr. Lambert’s life. Why would you want to do something like that?”

Sauli heard a loud click on the other end of the phone. Bryce had hung up on him. Sauli walked over to his bed and plopped down on it. His head was beginning to hurt from all the stress. Maybe sleeping was a good thing to do right now. He would deal with these problems tomorrow.

The next morning, Sauli walked nervously into homeroom. He was filled with mixed emotions. His face lit up with a gleaming smile when he saw Mr. Lambert and then grimaced as he caught sight of Bryce. Hopefully, he hadn’t told anyone yet. Sauli sat down at his desk silently, not even looking towards Bryce.

“Good morning. I have a few papers to pass out and then you can use the rest of the time to work on homework, if you have any.” Mr. Lambert said as the bell sounded off.

Sauli took in the intoxicating scent of Mr. Lambert’s cologne as he walked by handing out the papers. It reminded him of being in bed with him. A sigh escaped Sauli’s lips accidentally. Bryce gave him a dirty look and then went back to staring out the window.

“Go tell the teacher that you hate him.” Bryce whispered when the teacher had made it back to his desk.

          Sauli ignored Bryce’s request.

“Don’t just ignore me. You’ll be sorry, trust me.” Bryce said after realizing Sauli had not done what he said.

That statement worried Sauli. There had to be another way to keep Bryce quiet. Maybe he would just let it go. No one would probably believe him anyways. Besides, Bryce only saw them kiss, he didn’t know they were dating and having sex. If he ever found that out, Sauli and Adam would be as good as dead. It would ruin everything. The rest of the time in homeroom Sauli tried his hardest to not even acknowledge Bryce being there.

“Sauli” Mr. Lambert said after the bell rang and Sauli was about to be the last student out.

Sauli turned around and smiled. “Yes?”

“Eat lunch in my classroom today. We really need to talk.” Mr. Lambert answered.

“Alright, I’ll be there.” Sauli said back. He noticed the grim expression on the teacher’s gorgeous face. What was wrong with him? An overwhelming feeling of nausea washed over him as he left the classroom and realized that Mr. Lambert might want to break up with him.
