Chapter 13: the aftermath

It had been a week since Ridleys accident and due to the fact she had coded on the table for at least a couple of minutes everyone had decided it was best to put her into a drug induced coma to allow her body to heal somewhat before she woke up and to be sure that she wouldn't have any brain damage. While she was in her drugged induced coma Matt had decided to go by their place and get her a few of her things since she would be in the hospital for a while. Each day they slowly reduce the amount of drugs that kept her asleep which meant that she had slowly woken up. When she did she was surround by the sheer amount of cuddles and kiss she was getting from everyone before they began shout at her giving them such a scare since they believed that had nearly lost her. However the one thing she did notice was that Matt and Mason were both missing from the crowed of people in room, it wasn't till until everyone else had either gone home or went back to work that matt had finally stopped by her room.

" hey stranger" she said as she put her book down on the table in front of her as Matt walked further into the room

" hey how are you doing?" He said standing awkwardly by her bed, she could tell that he had been crying from his red eyes

" I'm okay Miranda said that I'm healing a little slower than she would like but everything looks good and Callie said that I need to start the my therapy as soon as and that I need to keep this brace on for a good while and that I need to use a wheelchair till I get used to the crutches and the walking sticks but other wise I'm ok" she said fixing her pyjamas so that they would sit better

" that's good I guess........" He said absently, he didn't know what to say to her

" Matt what's going on?" She said patting a space on the bed, indicating that he should sit down next to her which he did

" I'm sorry I'm trying so hard to not think about the fact that you died rid, I'm trying so hard but every time I close my eyes or when I saw you sleeping I couldn't help but think that you waking up was all a dream" he said sadly as the tears began to fall while Ridley cuddled him

" I know but I'm okay now and you know that can happen sometimes to patients then later they are completely fine..... Ok well no it's doesn't happen to patients, it's really only happens to greys " she said trying to reassure him by being rational as she joked while trying to lighten the mood

" it's different though I mean with a patient doctors need to unemotional and kind of detached but you're my best friend, you know the person that knows me the best" he said linking hands with her while resting his head on her shoulder

" it's like we're one person, I remember the pact too you know. I didn't mean to scare you like that I promise I mean I don't really remember what happened during the accident" she said trying to clear the fog in her brain

" I know you didn't but when I saw you lying on that table all I could think about was that I couldn't possible lose my person...... Do you have brain damage?" He asked thinking that maybe she was suffering from some kind of memory loss

" no I don't think so, my dad checked me out when I woke up and he said everything was ok. Although he and my aunt Amelia still want to do regular checks in case of a delayed injury but It could mean I don't actually know what happened" she said leaning her head on his

" ok so I have to ask this just because well cause I can but did you stall the car so that you would be hit?" He asked while he moved to sit at the bottom of the bed to face her

" you mean did I try and kill myself? No I didn't, I remember I decided to drive around a while before going back to the apartment then I remember seeing white lights from either side so I think I was hit on both side while I was stopped at a red light. I don't think it was my fault" she told him knowing that he was the only one that would think this because he knew all of her secrets
