Chapter 15: all wounds heal

With the no fraternisation policy back in place at the hospital, things had became tense between the staff. Meredith refused to speak to Derek and was furious with him for not only forcing their daughter into making a decision that directly affected her but also for not discussing it with either of them. Due to this she had decided to stay at Cristina's for a while. Mason and Ridley were another story since she broke up with him he had been walking around the hospital moping, it helped that they weren't working that closely together. Ridley was miserable too, although she knew all of her reasons were good ones but it still hurt. However her and Matt were back to normal or close to it as you tell that Ridley wasn't exactly happy with him. After a bad day where she thought there was no escape from Mason who seemed to be everywhere she turned, Matt decided to cheer her up with a bottle of tequila. Currently Ridley and Matt were stuff on the floor drinking it, Ridley was wearing a pair of denim shorts, a grey racer back tank and a pair of grey socks with her hair in slightly messy curls.

" you could call him if you want, I won't be mad I'll just blame it on the tequila" Matt said to her one night when they had off and had decided to drink away their problems

"No I can't it wouldn't be fair to him or me, I just need to forget him or at least try to. It hurts too much not too" she said taking another sip from the bottle, looking at her phone which was almost daring her to call him

" have you guys talked since you broke up?" He asked wondering if Mason blamed or not, he still couldn't believe she picked him

" no every time I see him I hide or pretend to super busy, it's not like I can run that fast with a walking stick and a leg brace on" she said gesturing to her leg that was resting on one of the pillows from the couch

" I still can't believe you broke up with him, why did you? And don't try to spin some crap about the no fraternisation rule" he said knowing she wouldn't let some rule stop her from doing what she wanted

" because he came between you and me which made you think that i was replacing you that's a big deal plus there's more to it but that was the final thing I guess" she said being vague about the details

" was one of these things him asking you to move in with him?" He said wondering if Mason had scared her off by moving too fast

" no I was going to yes to that" she said before taking a big gulp of tequila willing herself to stop feeling the sting of the memories that coming back to her

" you really loved him Rid, you shouldn't have broke up with and I shouldn't have forced you too.....are you thinking about the warning/ advice from your aunt Lexie when you were dead?" He said admitting his mistake, he could tell she was hurting

" kinda I mean she or me or whoever said that pushing him away wouldn't do any of us good but then again I'm not pushing him away, I've kinda kicked him away from me and there's no going back so..." She said growing darker and cold so much so that he began to worry that she was becoming dark and twisty, just then Matt's phone went off signalling that he had a message

" it's Katie, she said that her and Chris are at the bar and are wondering where we are. Want to go to?" He asked thinking that getting out might be good for her even if it was to a bar

" Matt if you want to go then go, you don't need me to hook up with Katie. Although if you are going then I'm going to go to my parents place for the night" she said getting up to put on a pair of studded combat boots and a grey skull sweater
