Part 30. Concert pt.2 (AdrienPV)

"Get up Plagg, we gotta go" I urged as I finished getting ready. Plagg yawned loudly and rolled over lazily on my pillow. "5 more minutes Tikki..." he groaned. "Who's Tikki?" I turned to him with an arched brow. "This is the second time he's mentioned that name..." His green eyes shot open when he realized what he had said. "Uh...no one in particular hehe. Better yet, where's my cheese?" He rasped, quickly changing the conversation. I rolled my eyes as I picked up my bag and tossed him a slice from my pocket. He caught it in his mouth.

"You're just a flying stomach aren't you?" I muttered as he chewed noisily. "Hey, giving you super powers is hard work..." he muttered with a full mouth. A smile spread across my lips. Plagg's sass always seemed to cheer me up. "You ready for your concert?" He asked after he swallowed. I nodded. "I'm a bit nervous though, I really want to win those tickets..." I trailed off.

"You'll be fine kid. Since all you do is 'practice' all day, I'm sure you'll be fine!" I rolled my eyes when he used his nubs as quotation marks. "Thanks for the encouragement" I retorted as I motioned for him to get in my bag. "Anytime!" He rasped as he tucked himself inside.

The ride to school was quiet like always, but I took it as an opportunity to go over the notes in my head. When we arrived, the entire school was abuzz. Everyone was working on something. Joy filled my heart when I realized this was my first school concert, and I was going to be a part of it. I walked into the auditorium and saw that the stage was almost ready. Nino had texted me to meet him in the music room a few doors down.

My heart raced unwillingly when I noticed a pair of raven pigtails slouched over on the floor. "Morning Marinette" I greeted casually. "A-Adrien! How d-doing? I mean, how are you? Hehe..." she stuttered. A light chuckle escaped my lips. "She's so cute..." I thought to myself as I studied her.

"Wow, is that for the concert?" I asked as I pointed at the board. "Oh yea! I thought some foam instruments would make the stage look more intresting!" She said as she stood up with the board. She was about to hand it to me, but her feet got tangled with her art supplies. "Aahh!" She screamed as she tripped and crashed into me, knocking me down.

"A-are you okay?" I asked as I sat up and rubbed the side of my head. "I'm s-sorry I--!" Her face turned bright red as I placed a finger against her lips and silenced her. "It's fine he-he" I chuckled again. "Why didn't I notice it before...?" I asked myself.

"Adrien dude!" Nino's voice made us look up. "It's time for sound check" he said as he motioned to the music room. I nodded just before standing up and offering to help her. She placed her hand timidly in mine, allowing me to lift her off the ground. "I gotta go, but hopefully I'll see you at the show?" She nodded as I waved goodbye and followed Nino out of the auditorium.

"What's up with you and Marinette?" Nino teased as he nudged me with his elbow. "Nothing, she just tripped and knocked me down..." Nino laughed. "Yup, sure sounds like Marinette" he said as we made our way towards the microphones. "So what's up? Why did you decide to join last minute?" He asked as he plugged in some speakers. I could feel heat rise to my cheeks. "Honestly, I kinda want those tickets..." I admitted as I began setting up the keyboard I was going to use.

"Woah, why the change of heart dude?" He asked as he tapped the mics one by one. "There's someone I want to take to the concert..." I admitted sheepishly. Nino smiled and held out his fist. "May the best musician win." I smiled as I pressed my fist against his. "Yeah!" Everything went by quickly. Rose and juleka went on first, followed by some kids from a neighboring class. After that, Nino went on and then finally, it was my turn.

The crowd erupted into applause and cheers, when I had finished. This was the first time that my heart raced after being on stage. I glanced over at Marinette who was clapping enthusiastically. Nino shot me a thumbs up from behind the curtains as the judges got ready to make their desicion. "And the winner is, Mr. Agreste!" More cheers and applause echoed around me as my classmates all ran up on the stage to congratulate me.

I shook Principle Democles' hand as he handed me the Jagged Stone tickets. My heart raced with excitement as I stared at the thin pieces of paper. "I hope she says yes..." I thought to myself as I glanced back at Marinette who was making her way outside.

After we had cleaned everything up, I made my way outside. I looked around for Marinette, but I couldn't find her. "Maybe she went home already..." I muttered to myself just as a familiar voice interrupted my thoughts. "Adrien!" Kagami called as she wrapped her arms around me and gave me a hug. The action caught me by surprise. "H-hey..." I began awkwardly. "Your performance was amazing. I've never heard that piece played so beautifully!" She enthused. "Thanks..." I replied sheepishly as I pulled away from her.

"I've already asked my parents, I was thinking you could pick me up at 7:00pm?" I stared at her blankly. "Umm...what?" I asked a bit confused. "Remember last time? I said I wouldn't mind going with you if you decided to participate!" The memory of that conversation flooded back into my mind. I was about to reply, when a pair of footsteps made me turn around. My heart sank to my knees when I caught a glimpse of her raven hair as she sprinted away. "Adrien?" Kagami asked wearily as she placed a hand on my shoulder. "I'm sorry, I gotta go!" I shouted as I took off after her.

"Damn it!" I hissed to myself as I sprinted out of the school and towards the bakery. "She must've seen me with Kagami, she could've gotten the wrong idea!" I panted as I turned the corner. "I gotta make this right, I gotta..." my thoughts trailed off when I laid eyes on them. Luka had his arms wrapped around Marinette as she rested her head on his chest.
