Her lips were soft and they tasted like cherry lip gloss. She didn't kiss me back but she didn't pull away either. I think I caught her by surprise. My heart raced as I pulled away from her. "S-sorry, I couldn't help myself..." I admitted sheepishly as I messed up my hair. Her face was bright red. "Are you okay?" I asked with a chuckle as she placed her hands over her face. "Hey..." I began as I gently pulled her hands apart. My heart cringed when I laid eyes on her flushed expression. Her cheeks were bright pink, but her sapphire eyes were round and watery. "Marinette, d-did I hurt you...?" I asked fretfully. She shook her head as tears poured down her pink cheeks. I wrapped my arms around her again and crushed her to my chest. "I'm so confused....!" She sobbed. The concert was starting again so I took the opportunity to pull her away from the crowd.
"Talk to me...please" I pled as she avoided my gaze. "I've been in love with Adrien for so long and then you came along and C-Cat Noir too and I just...!" More tears poured down her face as she shook with emotion. "Calm down Marinette...please..." I urged as I placed my hands on her trembling shoulders. "I c-can't, I can't calm down because...." she trailed off. "Beacause...?" I asked as I wiped her tears away with the back of my hand. "B-because I like you too!"
My heart nearly jumped out of my throat when I heard her confession. "I l-like you t-too but I still love h-him..." she continued to sob. Without hesitating, I took her hand and led her over to a nearby bench. "Wait here, I'm gonna get you something to drink. Try to take deep breaths..." I instructed just before making my way towards a small snack cart. "What the?" I asked myself as something cracked beneath my shoe. "Hm..." I muttered as I picked it up and placed it in my pocket.
After I purchased a couple of water bottles, I turned to make my way back but a sudden clang caught my attention. I squinted in the direction of the noise and managed to spot a familiar figure. "Is that...?" I asked myself as he pressed his head against the tower. Without hesitating, I made my way towards him.
"Ouch, that looks painful..." I said as he glanced at his bruised fist. "What do you want?" He hissed bitterly. "We need to talk..." I said sternly as I took a few steps towards him. "We've nothing to talk about..." he retorted dryly as he leaned his back against the tower. "Here..." I said as I handed him one of the waters. He took it hesitantly.
"Rough night?" I asked. He glared at me accusingly. "Yeah, you could say that" he muttered wryly. "So, where's Marinette?" He asked sarcastically. "She's uh...taking a break from the crowd..." I said as I messed with my hair. "Oh, needed to grab some air after sucking on your face?" I furrowed my brows at him.
"Hey, watch your mouth..." I said sternly. He scoffed and rolled his eyes at me. "I think it's funny she has to send her boyfriend to defend her..." I shook my head. "She doesn't know I'm here..." I said as I kicked a pebble that was on the ground. "Then what the fuck do you want?!" He asked louder than needed. "I wanted to tell you that I'm backing down. At least for now..." his eyes opened wide. "By the way you two were making out, I'd think the exact opposite..." he muttered scornfully.
I took in a deep, calming breath. His comments were starting to agitate me. "What's with you Agreste? Last time I checked you two were just friends." He scoffed spitefully. "You don't know anything..." he muttered as he turned to walk away. "I know you're an idiot" I replied earnestly. I could see his shoulders tense up. "What did you say...?" He asked as he glanced over his shoulder. "Only an idiot would be as blind as you are..." he turned towards me, his brows furrowed and a scowl on his face. "Shut up..." he hissed as he avoided my gaze.
"It's been one year. One entire year of her pining over you and you were too self-absorbed to notice..." he took a step towards me, anger contorting his otherwise placid features. "You don't know anything..." he hissed again as he stood directly in front of me. "I know that you've hurt her..." I said as I straightened up and held his gaze. He rolled his eyes. "Yeah, that's why she's been making out with every boy in tow--" I didn't let him finish. I grabbed him by his white shirt and shoved him against the tower.
"Don't talk about her like that!" I shouted impulsively. "You know why I'm backing down? It's not because I give a crap about you, it's because I care about HER!" I shouted irately. "I care too much..." I whispered as I loosened my grip. "I'm backing down because no matter what happens, she'll always be in love with you!" His eyes opened wide. "You know she's over there crying right now? Crying because she's confused. Crying because despite everything that's happened, she can't forget you..?" I let go of his shirt and took a step back.
"I'm a pacifist. I don't believe in violence, but I'm not just gonna stand here and let you insult her..." I trailed off. "But I'm not an idiot, I know you love her too. It took you forever to realize it, but I know you also care..." I muttered as I took in a deep breath and began making my way back.
"Get your head out of your ass and go be with her..." I said without turning around. I swallowed forcibly as I fought the bitter taste in my mouth. "But I'm warning you now Agreste, if you hurt her, I WILL take her from you..." I said just before tossing him the pink and green bracelet I had picked up earlier. "You dropped this..." I muttered just before turning around and making my way back towards Marinette.
