Part 25. Amazing (AdrienPV)

"Here we are, safe and sound!" I exclaimed as I placed her down on her roof. She glanced down at her shoes wearily. "Don't worry Purrincess, I'll find your earring. Just stay here, I'll be back before you know it!" I extended my baton and vaulted off the roof towards the destruction. "Cat Noir!" Dragon rider roared when she laid eyes on me. I dodged the dragon's tail whip, eliciting a roar from its master. "Fire!" She commanded. I spun my baton and neutralized the fireball before it made contact with anything.

"Where's Ladybug?!" I growled through clenched teeth. The akuma smiled cynically as I tensed in place. "Give up your Miraculous and I shall return your precious Ladybug!" Anger bubbled through me as I took off at full speed towards the dragon. My eyes narrowed when I laid eyes on a purple necklace that hung around her neck. "The necklace!" I hissed to myself as I barrel rolled in the air and kicked the dragon in the face.

A loud shriek escaped its throat as I landed on its back and began attacking the rider. I swung at her with my baton but she dodged and yanked me by the tail. "Hey! Only Ladybug's allowed to touch this tail!" I hissed as I swept my feet and tripped her. Cataclysm!" I shouted just as I prepared myself to destroy the necklace. "Don't do it Cat!" A familiar shout made me look down. "Marinette!!?"

The akuma took advantage of my distraction and kicked me off the dragon. "Ow..." I muttered as I landed in a tangled mess by Marinette's feet. "Are you okay!?" She asked as she helped me up. "What are you doing here Marinette!? I told you to wait at the bakery!" I scolded as I dusted myself off. "I know but--!" "But nothing!" I interrupted. "You could've gotten hurt, it's dangerous here!" My heart cringed as her face fell. "I'm sorry...but I have a message from Ladybug... " she trailed off.

I held my cataclysm hand close to my chest as I listened. "You can't destroy the akumatized object right now..." I furrowed my brows at her. "Why not?" She glanced nervously up at the sky. "B-beacause she's having trouble with her miraculous. She can't transform right now so she can't purify it..." my eyes opened wide. "What kind of trouble? Is she okay!?" Dread began to clutch my heart as worst case scenarios began to play through my head.

"She's fine, but if you release that akuma..." she trailed off. "It can multiply..." I finished for her. "Why couldn't she tell me herself?" I asked, a little wounded. "I don't know...s-she called the bakery and told me over the phone..." I sighed wearily. "What should I do then?" I asked as I glanced at my bubbling hand. "I have an idea..." she said with a smile as she held up a clear jar.

"Let's catch it. You destroy the necklace, I'll catch the akuma and leave it on my balcony. When Ladybug is ready, she can purify it!" I looked at her wearily. "I don't know, it's dangerous Purrincess. You could get hurt..." worry constricted my throat. "Look out!" Marinette tackled me down just as a blast of fire scorched the floor where we had been standing. I glared up at Dragon Rider who was hovering just above us. "Let's do this!" I hissed as I vaulted up in the sky.

"Ahhh!" I let out a war cry as I flipped in the air and tried to kick the rider. She dodged but I used my staff and swept it under her feet, tripping her.I held down her arms with one hand and yanked off her necklace with my cataclysm hand. "Catch!" Marinette shouted as she tossed the jar towards me. I caught it just in time to trap the tainted butterfly. I picked up the girl and leaped onto the roof of a nearby building. "Dragon!" She shouted as her lizard de-tramsformed and fell towards the floor. I ran towards the edge of the building in a panic. Relief washed over me when I saw that Marinette had caught the small yellow reptile. I smile when she shot me a thumbs up.

"Thank you so much Cat Noir. Sorry for all the trouble..." the young herpetologist waved just before walking away. "Looks like we make a good team Purrincess" I said with a smile as I held out my fist. She nodded and pressed her small fist against mine. "You know it!" For some reason my heart raced in my chest. Her smile, her vivid eyes reminded me of Ladybug's.

"Soo without Ladybug' s power to clean up, it's gonna be a challenge to find your earring..." I trailed off sheepishly. She brushed her hair behind her ears and showed me. "I found it right before you caught the akuma!" A hint of relief reflected in her words. "Thanks alot Cat Noir, you really are amazing..." she said just before leaning in and pressing her lips against my cheek.
