3 hours later, the party was in full swing. Most of the guests were there and everyone was having a grand time. His two sisters were the most beautiful there, as usual, and Malcolm was with his fiancee. Simon was off flirting with all the girls so Jack was alone as he walked through the house. He greeted a few people here and there, walked to his family, but other than that he was quiet. Well, he was until his favorite guest made his grand entrance. There was a loud bang from the doorway and everyone ran to the doorway to look. There was thick white smoke that took a minute to clear but there stood Godfather and Rose. They all applauded as they bowed together, well he bowed. Rose did a curtsy. Jack managed his way through the crowd up to the front, smiling and clapping.
"Sorry, we are late! Ran into a little trouble along the way." Godfather said as he and rose dragged in a rather large bag. Rose looked a bit ruffled up, probably from landing in some snow. She was probably trying to push Godfather in the snow and tripped.
"I'll help." Jack offered with a smile and picked up the other end. The three carried the bag to the living room and put it in front of the large Christmas tree. The tree was covered with candles and little figurine ornaments. Some of them were older than Jack. His favorite was the fairy his mother had gotten when she first married his father. Jack straightened up, fixing his coat with a smile. "I'm glad to see you, godfather."
"Oh, come here boy." He opened his arms and hugged Jack. Jack smiled and hugged him tight, then Rose spoke up.
"What about me? Do I get a hug from Jackaboy?" Jack laughed and hugged her too. She was a bit shorter than him so her cheek squished against his chest. Then he let go of her and Rose smiled.
"You are an insanely good hugger."
"I know. I get that a lot." She said confidently as she locked her hands behind together behind her back. Jack laughed and pat her head a bit.
"I'm sure you do."
"Alright, you two. Are you going to help me pass out presents?" Godfather spoke up and all the children ran forward for gifts. Godfather laughed a bit. "Not right now!" Then all the kids left disappointed. "So, will you Jack?"
"Of course." He told him before the music started to play. "Oh no, dancing," Jack complained before rose grabbed his hand. "Rose, I am not dancing with you."
"But why?"
"Because I can't dance."
"I'll lead." He sighed in defeat and his family laughed softly as he was dragged out away. He stood in front of Rose with a frown.
"I'm going to step on your feet."
"That's fine." She said with a chuckle. She positioned his arms and looked up at him. "Ready?"
"You know, I hate you sometimes." She just smiled and lead him through the dance. He actually did really well and eventually took the lead.
"See? You can dance."
"Have I told you I hate you yet?"
"Yes, when this started." She said with a laugh. "Really though, you're doing really good." She told him and finally got a smile from the Irishman. "Ah, much better. You look good with a smile."
"Please tell me you're not flirting with me."
"Don't worry. I'm not."
"So you just randomly compliment people?"
"Do you not know me? Jeez." She said with a head shake, making him laugh. Soon the dance ended so Jack bowed while rose did her curtsy. Jack shook his head and walked back to Godfather.
"I can't believe she made me dance with her." Godfather just chuckled and watched everyone dance. This probably went on for a good hour. Jack would occasionally dance with a family member to appease them but no one else. Godfather danced with Rose a few times too to appease her too at some point.
"Alright, GIFTS!" Once again all the kids came swarming forwards to them cheering. "Jack, Rose! Come help me!" He motioned them over and they were quick to go to his side. "Let's go! First, we have this Indian doll." He pulled out a porcelain Indian doll with long black hair and tan skin and a pretty emerald green outfit. The little girls raised their hands before he picked a little girl with the same looking hair and bright blue eyes. "Now, this toy soldier." He gave it to a little boy with orange hair. Jack, Rose, and Godfather pulled out toys for everyone but the three of them and gave them out. When everyone had their gifts and the children were off playing, Godfather turned to both of them. "Don't worry. I didn't forget you two." They looked at each other curiously then looked at him. He walked away and the two looked at each other and shrugged. After a few moments, he came back with two boxes. One small square box covered in a pretty silver and pink wrapping paper, topped with a red bow. The other one was a rectangle covered in green wrapping paper, topped with a red bow. "Here you go, my little flower." He told Rose, making her go red. She took the box and muttering 'don't call me that' and untied the ribbon. She gasped and pulled out a silver music box that had a glass rosebush. She took the key from the box and wound it up. It played a lullaby and rose watched the rosebush light up and spin. "Do you like it?"
"I love it!" She carefully put the music box down on a table and tackled Godfather in a hug. He chuckled as he hugged her back then let go too, handing jack his present.
"Be careful." He told him and watched as jack tore the wrapping paper and opened his own box.
