"Is there a reason?"I asked.

"You remember grandpa? Well he died and all the money went to us but Ion need it so I signed my half over to you." Elijah explained.

"How you know he wants me dead?"

"He sent me a warning."

"What am I supposed to do? What if he gets to Levi? No... My baby?" I started tearing up while holding my stomach.

"Ray. Calm down. I ain't gone let nothin happen to y'all and neither is Deon." He called me by the Nickname he gave me when I was little.

After a few seconds of silence I seen a big hand with slender fingers and long nails reach over the couch. I got choked up again and couldn't speak.

Elijah caught my face and shook his head.

"Ray listen to me. It's not real. It can't hurt you. Okay?"

I nodded slowly but still tensed as the voice spoke into my ear slowly.

"He doesn't love you... nobody does. Remember he left you to suffer. Just like your mother. They hate you. And just to think. I was gonna kill you." The thing snaked it's hand around my neck as it spoke.

I felt a pinch on my thigh and looked down. Levi stood in front of me pinching my thigh and laughing bringing me out of my trance.

"Why you sad?" He asked trying to wipe my tears.

"I'm gone be okay baby." I tried to chuckle.

I picked him up and looked to see Deon and Elijah staring at us.

"You still have those hallucinations?"

"Yeah they came back after yo momma faked her death."

"Ma ain't fake her death."

"Yes she did. Then she showed up for Levi's first birthday and left."

"Rena momma died in front of me. I came back one day because I was gone take you and momma back to Louisiana wit me. He shot at me and momma took the bullet. I'm guessing he left cause they was gone suspect it was him."

"Wait so you just left me there? Damn so nobody give a shit about me huh?"I shook my head.

"It wasn't like tha-"

"Then what was it like? Everybody fucking left me there to die. I had to stay wit Keisha and you know how much she hates me so living there was hell. You had a chance to get me and you didn't. Nobody gave a fuck about where I would have to go after they left."

"You know what. I have no explanation. I'm sorry Rena and I don't expect you to forgive me but please just let me protect yall. You dont even have to talk to me when all of it is over. You know what he'll do if he finds out about Levi."

I looked down to my curious son and sighed.

"Okay."
