Once we arrived, Hank immediately got out of the car and walked to an officer who was holding a clip board. Connor then got out of the car, moving his seat forward so I could get out and standing still right next to where I had exited. I thanked him only to reach my arms towards the monochromatic sky, letting out a muffled sigh as I stretched.
Taking a look around the area, although it was still flush with busy bodies moving about the streets, I could tell it wasn't a particularly busy part of the city. From outside the mini mart, I could see a bus stop and an abandoned house directly across the street, a diner and motel down the road, all of which were surrounded by other smaller businesses or apartments. All that was left to do now was to wait for the details from Hank. So I folded my arms across my chest and leaned back up against the car. Flipping the collar of my jacket up to prevent the wet wind from smacking my face anymore, I saw Connor slightly turn to me.
"Korra," Connor began, "may I ask you a personal question?"
"Go for it Connor."
"Why did your behavior change when I walked into your room earlier?" He asked. Brows furrowed in confusion, I looked up to him and saw that he really couldn't figure out what was wrong.
"Look, Connor, I know boundaries aren't exactly your forte, but it's considered rude to walk in on someone when they're changing. I began behaving differently because I was uncomfortable," I explained, looking down to my feet while Connor raised his brows in understanding, his LED flashing yellow for just a moment.
"I apologize for making you uncomfortable, I can assure you that wasn't my intent. But why did you leave your door open, knowing that a situation like that would make you uncomfortable?"
"I'm used to living alone Connor, I never close the doors in my house. You're lucky I didn't have time to use the bathroom or shower, that would have been a bit more traumatic," fixing my gaze to the ground, I chuckled, imagining what might have happened if I was more undressed.
I smirked for a moment only to focus my gaze to Connors eyes, he did the same, his LED flashing blue. There was something about those eyes that I couldn't explain, they were entrancing but somehow still empty. But it was also like I was looking into they eye of a deer, the innocent, sweet, chocolate brown orbs of something I didn't truly understand.
"Are you two fuckin' lovebirds done?" Hank interjected, leaving me annoyed at him for ruining a moment.
"Whatever, Hank, we're not lovebirds. What've you got here?" I asked, rolling my eyes to meet Hanks.
"Watch it missy, I'm not dealing with any fuckin' attitude on this case," Hank snapped, causing my face to fall in annoyance.
"We've got people sweeping the neighborhood right now, they're gonna keep us updated but for now but that's all we can do."
