Something is happening...

____

Time was in stand still.

Korra watched as the blinding headlights grew almost instantly closer, a shaky breath escaping her pale lips. Petrified, Korra instinctively slammed her eyes shut, knowing that it was over.

But she felt something. Something that wasn't the impact of the car. Someone had tugged on the collar of her jacket, pulling her up and throwing her from her place on the road to the metal guard rail.

It all happened so fast, in an instant Korra was now safe by the side of the road and Connor was in her place, on the road. Whipping her head back to look at him, Korra only managed to look in his eyes before the same car that was going to hit her, hit him. Just as the car made impact with him, she squeezed her eyes shut and hid her face in her elbow.

In that moment a feeling, or more a lack of, began to flush through her body. Now clinging to the guardrail for dear life,  it felt as if all of the air had been knocked from her body, it was like she had been knocked back down to her previous place on the road. But no matter how deep her breaths were, no matter how hard she tried to fill her lungs with oxygen, her rib cage felt as if it would shatter at any given moment.

Eventually, Hank and other officers managed to slow down the traffic and get to her. As soon as he could, Hank lifted his legs over the guardrail to get to Korras side.

She slowly lifted her head up and cracked her eyelids open to see Hank kneeled next her, his lips moving but no sound escaping them. In her mind everything was moving either ridiculously fast or extremely slow, it flipped between both constantly. The next thing Korra knew, Hank had grabbed her arms, pulling her to her feet.

It was then that she was able to hear the world around her once again, for the sounds of traffic and the vicious rain began ringing through her ears. Hank tried to pull his arms away for a moment, but he briefly looked down to Korra's hands which were practically clinging to his forearms for dear life.

"Kid," Hank called to her, but his words only seemed to echo through her head. She looked him directly in his eyes, barely able to tell if it was the rain or the occasional tear that was falling down her face.

"Kid? Are you hurt? Korra!" He shook her arms slightly, trying to snap her out of the trance she was in.

"I-," she breathed, her tone just above a whisper. "I'm okay... I'm..."

Korra tried to turn her head to see the road behind her, but Hank grabbed her once more, stopping her. "W-where is Connor?"

At the mention of the android, Hanks actions made it obvious. Hank stole a quick glance behind her, only for his eyebrows to slightly furrow as he attempted to keep a straight face.

The more she told herself not to do it, the more she needed to see what he looked like, what she had done to him.

She lightly pushed away from Hank.

Turning away from him, Korra saw splats of thirium going down the road and soon enough the blue blood looked like it had been smeared across the road, almost as if the car had dragged thirium packs behind it as it drove. Following the trail, Korra's eyes now met the the pool that had seeped from Connors destroyed body. Not breaking her focus on his body, Korra saw his broken and torn limbs. His face displayed emotion, but the way that his empty eyes seemed to be gazing back at her as well as the blue streams that flowed from the corners of his mouth and nostrils, it made her stomach drop

Following her gaze, Hank saw the same sight and sighed, only to look away and start to pull Korra away from the scene and back up to his car.

The officers they passed on the way to the car could only stare as they began to wonder what could shake Korra into such a state. Nobody had ever seen her like this, but maybe that was for a reason.

Now trembling in the front seat, she waited.
