Robin sat in a bank lobby squinting at Amir whilst he spoke to a woman about the bank loan attempting to gauge the conversation.
Amir nodded, shook the woman's hand and walked towards Robin with a false smile and purposely avoiding eye-contact.
"You didn't get it?" Robin said.
"No." Amir mumbled.
"Let's go." Robin said holding Amir's hand and rubbing the palm with his thumb.
Robin walked out of a Popeye's with a plastic bag of food to Amir sitting on a curb in his dark blue business suit.
"I'm not hungry." Amir mumbled.
Robin sat down next to Amir on the curb and said "Amir, we can try another bank."
"We've been to 6 Robin, they ain't going for it." Amir said.
"We have all day until we pick the kids up why don't we try two more?" Robin said.
Amir shook his head.
Robin sneered and said "So you hear no a couple times and you bout to cry? That's all it took to finally humble you?"
"Robin that reverse psychology bullshit to make me believe myself by insulting me ain't gonna work." Amir said.
"Amir. Look in my eyes. LOOK!" Robin said.
Robin met with Amir's disinterested brown eyes and he said "Work harder on perfecting your app. Remember what that 2nd guy said? He would be more confident if the app was completed.
"Robin I got work." Amir said.
"Use as much time as you can Amir, you had so much ambition when I met you, you told me you were going to be a billionaire and remember the promise you made to me?" Robin said.
Amir raised his eyebrow and tilted his head "Huh?"
"You made me a promise years ago what was it?" Robin said.
"I said a lot of shit, I was trying to impress you. You had a fucking wall made of Mineral Lonsdaleite." Amir said.
"The fuck!?" Robin said.
"Mineral Lonsdaleite is harder than Diamond. See cause that's how hard you made it for me to get to-"
"You are such a damn geek!" Robin said interrupting Amir.
"If you wasn't cutting class and avoided the library you would have got what I meant." Amir said.
"The library? Oh! That red building my ex used to sell weed behind."
Amir laughed and said "I got with a cool kid so I'm good."
"Cool kid? What is this 1960? Never mind you still call weed reefer!" Robin cackled.
Amir laughed and said "Don't laugh at me!"
"You gonna eat your food?" Robin said.
"Yeah." Amir chewed on a chicken thigh and said "You always got me Robin, we gonna be that old ass couple that only know how to fight."
