Chapter 7

NOW

NO NO NO

I sit up straight and grasp the bed sheets, tears well up in my eyes

isn't it funny that your nightmares don't consist of demons but scenes like your first kiss?

Funny it is, crazy too.

I open my phone to look at the time

2:26 am

"Are you alright?"

A shudder runs through my spine in fear, I look around to see Changbin on his bed using his laptop, headphones on his shoulder, he's now looking at me.

I let go of the breath I didn't even know I was holding, "uh yeah, bad-bad dream"

"Damn, wanna talk about it?" he says about to take off his headphones.

"I-i rather not" I say still short of breath.

Changbin nods understandingly.

After sometime I gain my normal breath, "Aren't you gonna sleep?"

"I will" he says looking not at me, but his laptop, "after I finish this" he removes his headphones again.

I move over and sit at the edge of my bed facing him, "what are you doing?"

"Assignment"

"What do you have to do?"

"Compose a song"

"Is it done?"

"almost"

"Can I listen?"

"Sure, but I'm singing though" he chuckles.

"Are my ears gonna bleed?" I ask jokingly.

"I hope not" he laughs lightly.

I get up to sit next to him, he scoots over to give me enough space, which isn't much cause our shoulders are touching and neither of us seem to mind.

He hands me the headphones and I wear them, I turn to him, "Okay I'm ready to die"
He giggles and presses play.

A really good beat starts up and his voice chimes in a few seconds later.

'cause later when I become addicted to life,
the pills i ate when sick actually have no effect but
it consoles me, I'm flying away, up towards the sun
It's all up in my mind
Deceive me this time

And the beat drops

I love it

He pauses the song before what sounds like the next verse.

"There's more, but I'll show you later" He says smiling.

"Why can't I listen now?" i say pouting.

He looks at my lips and then into my eyes, I can feel my breath going short, "I just can't" he says slowly.

We stay like that for a while, looking into each other's eyes and I notice the pretty outline of his face in the dim of the laptop light, before I feel myself lose control

"You sing well" I say panicking and blink and turn away, breaking the eye contact we had.

"Thank you I-" he starts

"I-uhm will go then" I start too.

And then I'm off his bed and onto mine and he closes his laptop and sets it aside.

3:04 am

The simple task of sleeping seems impossible right now, memories have decided to haunt me today.
I restlessly turn around for a while and finally settle on facing Changbin's bed.

"Can't sleep?" I hear his voice across my bed.

I hum in response, "sorry if I disturbed your sleep"

"No, it's okay, I can't sleep too"

I sit up on my bed, "are you alright?"

"Yeah, I just, uhm I ran out of my sleeping pills, kinda forgot to refill them"

"oh" I say taken aback by the fact that he uses sleeping pills to sleep.

He sits up too, "Insomnia here, what about you?" he smiles.

It's like he's gotten so used to it, he just takes it casually, and it kind of hurts to see that, I should appreciate him more.

"Any particular reason?" I ask reluctantly and quickly add, "tell only if you wanna" because not everyone is comfortable with sharing stuff like this.

"I-" he starts, "uh can we take a walk while I say this?"

"sure"
