10:45 a.m.
"Okay but Yoongi-" Jaehwa whined as she held up the cake mix with a pout on her face. "Please! Can we make a cake!?"
"Why do you want to make a cake?"
"Why not make a cake?" She countered and he sighed. "Please! You know you want cake too! Even if you don't, you want me to make a cake because making a cake will make me happy and you like making me happy." She smiled sweetly at him, batting her eyelashes, and resting her chin on his shoulder. He shifted his eyes to the side to look at her and glared. Jaehwa couldn't help but smile at him. He let out a sigh of defeat and she cheered of happiness as she put the cake mix in their little cart.
She's been with Yoongi for almost four hours, and it was like nothing had changed. Actually no, that was a big fat lie. Something changed. Something changed. Jaehwa couldn't place her finger on it, she couldn't tell you what changed, she wasn't sure what it was, but something did change. She was nervous this morning to see him again, excited and nervous. He had become a best friend to her and she was excited to see her friend again but nervous because she didn't know what to expect; she didn't know if things would be awkward between them. She didn't know how she should act. If she should act normal, or cutesly, or bring up Thursday night or if she should act like it never happened? She didn't know. But the moment he walked in and sat down she felt at ease and everything played out...
Except the gazes they held, the little hand holding here and there. The grocery shopping. 'Let me be a normal twenty five year old who is out with a girl for once' His words kept going through her head. She made him feel normal, like a normal guy and that feeling made her heart swell. Actually the sight of him smiling made her heart swell. Him holding her hand made her heart beat three times as fast as it was already swelling up in her chest.
As normal as this was...it made her happy. To be walking around a store with him beside her as they looked at groceries to make something to eat. She looked over at him and saw him reach up to grab some kind of seasoning or sauce from a shelf. Her eyes traveled down when she noticed that the hem of his shirt rode up and she could see a little bit of skin. His tummy. She saw part of his tummy and by God she was going nuts internally. However the little sight of skin was gone as quickly as it came and she wanted to see it again... she wanted to put her arms around him, her hands sneaking under his shirt to feel his skin. But she shook those thoughts from her head. No. Jaehwa. No. SHe kept telling herself.
This is Yoongi...
But Yoongi's tummy...
"Were you checking me out?" His voice cut through her thoughts like a knife and she looked up at him with wide eyes like a deer caught in the headlights. He looked over at he with a smug little smirk on his face and she huffed, glaring at him; she could feel her face heat up. "You were weren't you?" He asked, placing whatever it was he grabbed in their cart.
"No I wasn't." She pouted as she gripped the cart handles and went to push it but Yoongi came up behind her, placing his hands on either side of hers.
"Yes you were." He replied. She scoffed. She could hear the smug and the smirk in his voice. Jaehwa huffed again as she pulled away from the cart and from him. He was suffocating her. She couldn't breathe, she couldn't think correctly. She hated him.
She was lying to herself. She didn't hate him. She liked him.
Jaehwa stopped walking suddenly with the realization.
"It's fine, you know." Yoongi's voice cut through her thoughts again. "I've done it before."
"Done what?" She asked, still in a bit of a daze.
"Checked you out." He replied with a shrug. That was the wrong thing to answer.
"You say it like it's nothing."
"I'm being honest, Jaehwa. You should know by now I'm going to say it how it is."
"I know but.. But did you have to say it in public..." She pouted, wrapping her arms around her middle and looking away from him. Yoongi stopped walking when he realized she wasn't walking next to him.
"Jae..." He smiled as he put an arm around her shoulder. She could feel her cheeks heat up. "Stop being cute and lets go." His shoulder fell from her shoulder and she looked over at him as he walked back to their cart.
It wasn't in her head anymore. She wasn't over thinking anything anymore... something had definitely changed between the two of them. Whether or not either of them were going to be blunt enough to come out and say it was a different story, but for now. Jaehwa was content with it. Even if something had changed between them, something that neither were comfortable talking about yet...she was fine with it.
