"I just don't understand why I'm still tied to this bed," Jungkook said, his eyebrows knit tightly together.V sighed, holding the plate of food on his lap while he sat next to Jungkook on his bed. It was the rare time when V would walk into the room to feed him. V took a spoonful of cereal and held it to Jungkook's face, who gladly accepted. "I just- I don't know. There's nowhere else for you to go anyway is there?"
This would be the most V had ever spoken to him ever since Jungkook's incident a few days back. Maybe he'd been embarrassed? Jungkook knew he was. They were both very daring that night. Usually, you don't have sexual fantasies of someone you barely know, you also don't let them give you a whole blowjob either.
V's voice was a bit lighter now, it wasn't as deep and intimidating to Jungkook as it was before. They were both quite comfortable with each other, sleeping next to each other, sharing jokes and laughing together. Jungkook was happy with him, and he hoped that V would trust him enough to let him show it.
Jungkook nodded, his cheeks inflated from the food in his mouth. V stared at him, and Jungkook could only return the favour for a moment before looking at his lap. He chewed slower than usual, hoping that V would stay with him for a little longer.
He swallowed and looked back at V, who was stirring the spoon around the bowl nervously. "No, there isn't. So why am I still tied up?"
V met his intense gaze and sighed, resting his hand on Jungkook thigh and rubbing his thumb against it softly. "I'm just scared that you'll end up leaving me again."
Again?
Despite V feeling so familiar to him, Jungkook only remembered meeting him once. At the cabin.
He hadn't really known anyone else other than Jimin and the others since 5th grade. He couldn't have left V because he's never talked to anyone else.
Jungkook discarded it, it was early in the morning and from what he remembered V had joined him in bed quite late last night. It was probably just some sort of mix up.
Jungkook wanted to comfort him, let him know that he wouldn't be leaving that easily, especially when he's never felt more at ease with anyone else in his life. It felt like there was a mutual understanding between them, an unspoken agreement. Whenever they had looked at each other, there was always the same look in their eyes.
You're just like me.
Jungkook wanted to touch him, to feel him, to let him know where he was at with all of this. But the most he could do was look at him, and speak to him with the most sincere voice he could muster. "I wouldn't leave you V. I want to stay and to know you more than anyone else. You're the only person that can make me feel the way I do. I don't want that to go away so quickly."
V chuckled, setting down the now empty bowl of cereal on the bedside table. A light smile spread across his face as he looked at the boy in front of him. In all honesty, V wished it could have all started differently. If things worked out back then, maybe he wouldn't have the lives of 7 people resting on his shoulders. Maybe he and Jungkook would be out on the town walking hand and hand, pointing at all the little gift shops as they walked by.
If V had the choice of setting the clock back all the way to 5th grade, he would. Of course, he felt the weight of all the lives he took, but it was too late to do anything now. There's no such thing as time travel.
V had to live with himself back then, but Jungkook had made everything better. Even if he might not remember it now. He'd make him remember.
"You won't leave me, even after all the things I've done." The way V said it made it sound more like a statement rather than a question. "All the people I've erased? Why aren't you scared of me? I've taken all the people you've known out of your life. Why is it that you don't hate me?" V asked, his head hurt and he clutched onto Jungkook's thigh to forget some of the pain. And he did. Jungkook made everything better.
Jungkook smiled softly, shaking his head lightly. "I don't know. I think, no matter what you've done or what you will do, I can't bring myself to hate you. I won't, no matter what."
V shook his head, standing up from the bed. "You don't know me Jungkook. You haven't for a while. You don't remember me."
Jungkook sat up from the bed, not caring if the rope was now straining on his shoulders. He was desperate for V to stay. He didn't want to be alone anymore, especially since V was in the next room.
Jungkook wanted to know him, he wanted to know more than anyone else. He wanted V to trust him because, despite everything, Jungkook trusted him too. He knew that to anyone else it would be wrong, in fact, it would be completely crazy. But it didn't feel like that when it came to them, it felt like they've known each other forever. And Jungkook was desperate to know why.
"Make me remember, please. I don't care how long it takes." Jungkook's arms strained against the ropes, he wanted to get closer to him and make sure he was okay. But the most he could do was stare after him as V grabbed the bowl of cereal and slowly walked towards the door.
V wanted to tell him, he wanted to tell Jungkook everything. Every detail of his life leading up to this very moment, to the point where everything changed and turned down into this dark road they walked down.
But something was holding him back.
Multiple things. He almost didn't want Jungkook to remember him. What if he leaves for another person just like he had all those years ago. V had him now, he worked so hard for this, he sacrificed his whole future just to have Jungkook back in his arms, to make sure there was no one left to take him away. Even if it was just for a while.
But V also thought it was way too cruel to leave Jungkook in the dark for this long.
So there V was, standing at the doorway with an empty bowl of cereal in his cold hands, staring at the boy he's longed for after almost 11 years. His heart was heavy, and he didn't want to stay for Jungkook's reaction.
"Think back, all the way to grade school. Think of the name Kim Taehyung, what do you remember?"
And then V walked out, leaving Jungkook dazed and confused.
He stared at the doorway as if V was still there, trying to remember anything from all the way back then.
And once he did, it all came back to him.
