"My life changed when I was 14 years old."
Taehyung looked across the living room from the couch, staring at Jungkook, who sat in the love seat."My father had gotten into an accident at work and he had been left in the hospital due to his coma. I visited him everyday, I loved my father with my whole being. He really was my best friend."
Jungkook smiled slightly at the last sentence, he was happy Taehyung had such a good relationship with his parents. Because he hadn't, being abandoned at park near the woods at 5 years old and being raised by someone you didn't even know wasn't the most ideal situation someone could ask for. But then again, Jungkook was glad at least one of them had a happy family life.
"The day my life changed was supposed to be like any other. I was laying down on the couch in my father's hospital room, I was telling him how my day at school went and any other juicy gossip a 14 year old would get from school. I was positive he would be listening, even though he would never respond." Taehyung paused, swallowing nervously before continuing. "I had fallen asleep, since I was especially tired that day. I felt comfortable sleeping there because I've done it many times before. But this time felt different, I had felt a bit uneasy that entire day, yet I shook it off and went to sleep anyways."
Taehyung paused again, glancing at Jungkook before he continued.
"And that's when it happened."
A group of 6 men barged into the hospital bedroom, passing a sleeping child on the couch. One man emerged from the group of 6, approaching the bed where an older man laid. An oxygen mask covered his face and IV needles littered his arms.
The man smIrked, staring down at the lifeless body in front of him, nothing to prove the man was alive except the slow rise and fall of his chest.
"Sir, should we kill the boy too?"
He looked up from the body, glancing towards the sleeping boy cuddled up on the couch.
'He looks just like his father, how sweet.'"No, leave the boy alive. It'll just cause unnecessary noice and waste energy."
The man smiled as He looked back at his target, bending down in front of the comatose man's face. "Well, Mr. Copper Mouth, incase you didn't already know, this is what happens when you stick your nose in other people's business."
He slowly lifted the mask off of the man's face.
"You die."
The 5 other men began to file out of the room as the heart monitor began to flatline, the oxygen and blood levels started to drop and soon enough the man's heart stopped beating all together.
He placed the mAsk back over the dead body and took three steps back.
As the man turned he glanced back at the boy who now sat up with his eyes wide, clutching the pillow in front of him.He sighed, and crouched down in front of him.
"Hey kiddo, what's your name?"The child looked back at his father, as if asking permission to speak to the man. But it proved nothing, his father was dead- he knew that much.
"I'm Taehyung." Taehyung could feel tears slowly water in his eyes, but he swallowed the lump in his throat calmly. He wasn't going to show weakness to the man that had just killed his father.
The man nodded and Taehyung looked at him blankly. "Well Taehyung, it was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that I'm sorry."
Taehyung didn't utter a word. What could he say?
"But you could take my word for it." He placed his hand on Taehyung's shoulder, who flinched at the contact of the man's cold hands. "You're father had it coming."
The man stood up walking towards the door before leaving, he stopped in the doorway. He couldn't continue looking at the young boy, for all he saw was his Very own son in those innocent eyes.
"When you're older... if you still feel raw about it. Come find me, I'll be waiting."
The room had gone silent, and the multiple footsteps were now barely audible down the long hallway.
Taehyung walked up to the body of his father, he never realized how peaceful he looked until now. There was a part of Taehyung that felt that it could be better this way.
But Taehyung knew what that man meant when he said he'd be waiting.
Taehyung picked up the business card the man had discretely set in his father's hands as he died.
He stared at the name as something switched in his brain.
"I promisE Mr. Kim, you won't have to wait long."
"You see Jungkook, that was the day everything in my life had changed." Taehyung started.
"And that day would eventually lead me to Kim Seokjin."
