Chapter 5

"I can't believe we graduate in 63 days I'm so excited!" Kim squeals and I just smile

Sadly I can't be excited since I'm moving four hours away but all well, I have to suck it up for my mom.

"I just wish you didn't have to leave, that's the only reason why I'm actually kinda not looking forward to it" she says with a frown

"Yeah I know" I say matching her frown

"Hello Ladies Lucas, from my English class" says walking over to us and sitting a little to close to my liking

"Uh hey?" I say in a questioning tone and Kim just looks at him like he's nuts

"Gabriella right?" He asks me

"Uh huh" I say cautiously

"So I heard you don't mind being with guys with girlfriends, so I came over here and thought maybe we could hang out sometime" he says with a wink and both mine and Kim's eyes widen

"Excuse me?" I ask with a hint of attitude in my tone

"What? It's just what I heard" he says with a shrug

"Where the hell did you hear that?" I ask him

"That girl Emily that you stole Grayson from" he says

"That bitch!" Kim says angrily and Lucas just gives her an amused look

"Look I did not steal him from her him and I aren't even together and never will be we're friends" I say

"Well that's good to hear so then maybe you and I can get to know each other better" he says with a smirk leaning closer to me and wrapping his arm around my shoulder

"Dude I'm not interested" I say pushing his arm away but he wouldn't budge

"Get off her!" Kim says to him angrily but he ignores her

"Awe come one babe we could have so much fun together"!he says tightening his hold on me

Before I could speak and angry voice cuts me off

"Get your fucking arm off her" Grayson's angry voice says from behind us

When Lucas sees him his eyes widen in fear before quickly taking his arms off me

"Sorry man I was just being friendly" Lucas says quickly trying to defend himself

"You were trying to get her into bed and when she said no you still continued to touch her, do not take me for a fool" Gray growls in Lucas's face who is pale from fright

"I'm not I was jus-"Lucas says before Gray cuts him off

"If I ever see you near her again if I even see you look at her again I will beat the fuck out of you do you understand?" Gray asks him in a deadly cold voice and Lucas nods quickly before practically running away

"Pussy" Gray mumbles rolling his eyes before taking a seat next to me and Kim bursts into laughter

"I love how practically every guy on this campus is scared as fuck of you it's amazing" Kim says and Gray just smiles before looking to me

"Are you okay?" He asks me

"I'm fine" I say simply

"You sure?" He asks

"Yes, but you didn't have to do that" I tell him and he frowns

"What does that mean?" He asks

"It means I'm a big girl Gray and I don't need you to always protect me from everything that's not what I need okay I need to learn to do that myself one day" I tell him

"Oh so don't stand up for you and just let piece of shit guys put their hands all over you? Got it" he says before beginning to stand up

No Gray I didn't mea- no it's fine you're right I need to stop doing that especially since you're leaving soon and we'll never see each other again so yeah don't worry I'll leave you to it" he says and walks away

I look to Kim and see she has a frown on her face just like I do

"What the hell was that?" I ask her

"You know he just cares about you" she says

"I know he does I just don't understand why he got mad like that, I mean of course I appreciate it but I just meant that I can't always have my best friend fight my battles anymore" I say and she nods

"Right I know it's just fine come on it's Grayson" she says looking away

She knows something.

"Is there something you're not telling me?" I ask

"What? No" she says quickly

Yup she's definitely hiding something. But I won't push it on her yet and I simply just nod and we continue to eat in silence.
