Chapter 11

Monday
Gabriella's POV
"He really kissed you?" Kim asks in shock

"Yup" I say taking a drink of my coffee

"Wow" She says

"I know" I reply

"So do you guys have feelings for each other now or what?" She asks and I scoff

"Feelings? You really think after all that I'd even wanna talk to him right now?" I ask

"Okay fine minus all the petty stuff, would you ever consider being with Gray?" She asks

Would I?

"You want the truth?" I ask her and she nods eagerly and I sigh before speaking

"Freshman year through Sophomore year I had a slight crush on him" I admit to her and her eyes widen

"Why'd it go away?" She asks

"Because I saw the type of person he was" I answer honestly and she looks at me even more confused

"Look yes he's a great guy friend to us but when it comes to the girls he dates he's a complete jerk. All he ever did was string them along just to have sex and once he got what he wanted he was gone. And I just can't be with someone like that. So I got over it." I say with a shrug and Kim frowns

"I'm sure he wouldn't do that to you" She says and I scoff again

"I'd rather not take that chance" I tell her honestly

And it was true. I did have a crush on Gray for quite sometime. But seeing the way he hurt all those girls just made it go away.

Before Kim could answer I spotted James

"Hey I'll be back" I tell her and she nods and I get up and head over to him but when he sees me his eyes widen and he scrambles to get up but I stop him

"Please wait" I tell him and he hesitantly sits back down

"Can I just ask why?" I ask and he sighs

"I can't say. I'm sorry" he says going to get up again but I grab his arm

"James please, come on I just want to understand" I say

"I can't even be near you right now, he'll kill me" He says in a shaky voice and I freeze

Who will? My dad?

"James I-look I cant tell you anything right now, meet me tonight at 8pm at the coffee shop on 3rd" he says quickly and I raise my eyebrow

"I promise I'll show up" he says and I nod and he leaves quickly

Alright then.

When I head back to the table where Kim was I now see Grayson sitting there as well

I don't think so.

I quickly turn around to try and get away but it's to late

He saw me.

"Elle wait!" He calls after me but I keep walking until I feel him tug at my arm

"Let go!" I hiss but he doesn't budge

"Not until you listen to me" he says

"Oh right like how you listened to me the other night?" I ask sarcastically and he sighs

"Please Elle" he says and sadly I give in signaling him to continue

"I'm so sorry for being an asshole to you on Friday, I was just feeling all these emotions and I didn't know how to feel or react" he rambles

"That's still no excuse Grayson" I say and he cringes

"Please not Grayson just Gray" he pleads but I give him a stern glare and he sighs

"Okay look I- but he's cut off by his phone ringing and he groans in anger and turns to answer it

When he looks at me again he looks sorry

"Sorry that was my mom, she needs me to come pick her up, can we pick this up later around 8?" He asks

"I can't I'm busy" I say bluntly and he sighs

"Okay well then after? Or tomorrow?" He asks and I just shrug

"I'll text you" I say not giving him a chance to answer and walking away to my car.

After ordering a coffee I take a seat at a table in the corner and wait for James.

I swear to god if he doesn't show up again he's dead.

Suddenly the door opens and he walks in and I sigh in relief

He makes his way over to me before taking a seat across from me

"Uh do you wanna go order a coffee?" I ask

"Nah I'm not gonna be long" he says and I nod

"Well?" I say waiting for him to explain

"Just please promise me you won't tell him" he says

"Tell who?" I ask in confusion

"Just please promise" he says desperately and I reluctantly agree and he takes a deep breath before speaking

"Friday afternoon while I was at my locker Grayson came up to confront me" he says

What the fuck.

I nod signaling to continue and he does

"He asked me if I was planning to take you out that night and I said yes, but he wasn't to happy about it" he says

Again, what the fuck.

"So I asked him if it was cause you were his girl and he said yes so he told me to not show up or to talk or
look at you ever again and if I did he'd kill me" he explains and by then my jaw is literally to the floor

He is so fucking dead.

"Oh my god James I'm so sorry I had no idea I-no it's fine I should've known this would happen" he says cutting me off and my heart stops

"What?" I ask and he shrugs

"Well yeah. He's done with to multiple guys that have been interested in you telling them to stay away or that it's just be a waste of time anyways" he says and I feel the angry burning inside me

It all makes sense. It explains why every guy I've liked would always just diss me. Because fucking Grayson was scaring them off.

But instead of telling this to James I smile

"Thank you for telling me this James, I really appreciate it" I say standing up and collecting my stuff and he nods as I make my way to the door but his voice stops

"You won't tell him right?" He asks in a shaky voice and I frown

"He's not gonna do anything to you James, I'll make sure of it" I tell him softly and he nods and we quickly wave goodbye to each other and I make my way to my car

I send Grayson a text asking if I could come over so we could "talk" to which he quickly replies yes

He has no idea what's about to come.
