When they met, it was like fate destined them to be together. It was their kindergarten year, first year of school for most kids, and it couldn't have been more cliché than this.

Levi and Eren were, of course, in the same class. Actually, their desks were right next to each other, in the corner of the class. And, of course, they fought.

"Hey, that's mine!! Give it back!" Levi yelled at Eren, who was currently playing with his toy soldier. It was an action figure, one that Levi loved dearly and kept it in the best possible condition (for a kindergartener). "You're going to get it dirty!"

"Nuh uh," Eren argued, keeping the toy clasped in his hands tight. "You weren't playing with it, so it's my turn!" To emphasize his point, he turned away from Levi, before resuming his activities with the figurine, swooping it through the air as if it were flying, adding wind noises as it flew.

Levi watched, angrily, his face becoming red with frustration. "Give it back to me! Now!!"

"Boys!" The teacher grabbed both the brunet and the raven's attention, walking over to them with a stern face. Both stopped their antics immediately, Levi looking up at her as if he was facing his mother after he broke a vase, Eren looking as if he had been caught with his hand in the cookie jar. "What is going on here?"

"Eren took my toy and won't give it back to me!" Levi broke the impending silence first, pointing an accusing finger in Eren's direction. "He's going to get his germs on it!"

"He wasn't playing with it, though!" Eren countered, his voice and face becoming distraught. "And I wanted to play with it, so I did!"

The woman sighed. "Eren, you're supposed to ask permission from Levi if you want to play with his toy. If he says no, then he doesn't want you to play with it. Understand?" The little brunet looked at the teacher for a minute, shame crossing his face, before nodding quietly.

"As for you, Levi," she turned her attention to the smaller raven, "if you aren't playing with your toy, and you don't want someone else to play with it, then you need to go put it up in your backpack until you want to play with it. If you leave it lying around, others might get the wrong idea, like Eren here did." Levi flickered his gaze to Eren at the mention of his name, his features softening slightly when he saw how apologetic his face seemed. "Understand, Levi?" He gave a supple nod. "Good, now I want both of you to tell each other you're sorry."

Eren looked up at Levi, his eyes shining with unshed tears. "I'm sorry that I took your toy without asking," Eren murmured, his voice shaking with pent-up emotions.

Levi couldn't help but feel sorry for the boy. He offered a tiny smile. "It's alright, I'm sorry for yelling at you and not putting my toys away properly."

A glimmer of happiness washed through Eren's features. "That's okay!" he spoke in a cheery tone, a smile broadening over his lips and cheeks. "Hey, I can get my Titan out and we could play together!"

Levi's face lit up. "Okay, could I have my soldier back now?"

Eren stood, before handing Levi his action figure again, then headed off to where his backpack was hung up on his own hook. He brought back, to Levi, a stuffed humanoid plush with a wicked smile and dark brown hair that reached just below it's jaw, pointed ears peeking out from each side of the head. "This is Rogue, he's my Titan! He doesn't eat people, like other Titans do, he beats the evil Titans up! Lets go play soldier!"

Levi offered another smile. "Okay, but my soldier has to watch over Rogue and make sure he doesn't turn against the humans, or else he'll have to kill him."

Eren's smile seemingly got bigger. "Okay, sounds fun!" He grabbed onto Levi's hand, guiding his across the classroom to a secluded corner where there was no one else. Turning back to Levi, his turquoise eyes glittered. "Hey, Levi?"

"Yes, Eren?"

"Let's be best friends forever!"
