Both the boys decided it was best to tell their parents face to face, so, then next day, Levi called his parents and invited them over to the apartment for lunch, as did Eren with his parents, and they were to break the good news then.

Carla and Grisha were the first to arrive.

"Oh, boys, this place is lovely!" Carla exclaimed as they gave her the grand tour. Yes, there were still a few unpacked boxes, but only a small few, and they were set in their bedroom to keep out of the way.

Levi gave a tiny smile, and Eren chuckled happily, glad to have his mother's approval on living arrangements. He made sure that his ring was in his pocket, not wanting to risk exposure to their secret just yet. He kept feeling down into his pocket occasionally to make sure it was still there, and gave an inward smile whenever he felt it.

After Levi's parents arrived, and all the food was cooked and set on the table, everyone dug in. Eren's heart pounded in his chest in excitement and in dread, absolutely ecstatic over the fact that Levi proposed, but also sick with worry that his parents won't accept.

The meal was eaten in a blissful silence, Eren and Levi sitting beside each other on one side of the table, both Carla and Levi's mother sitting together across from them, and both fathers on the ends, facing one another. When everyone was full and satisfied, their moms decided to clean up to dishes, while the fathers went into the smaller living room to watch a football game on TV. Eren and Levi stayed close to each other, helping to put the remaining food into tupperware tubs and set them in the fridge.

"Should we tell them now?" Eren murmured quietly to Levi.

Levi shook his head, cobalt silver gazing lovingly into turquoise. "No, we should wait just a few more minutes, give them a moment to settle down."

Eren rolled his eyes, but smiled nonetheless. "Yeah, like they'll be calm after we tell them."

At half time, during the commercials, Eren slid his hand discreetly down into his pocket, and slipped on his ring. He looked over to Levi out of the corner of his eye, and found that Levi was also looking at him as well. Eren raised a questioning eyebrow, and Levi gave a subtle nod, their silent conversation telling each other that it was time.

"Hey, Dad?" Eren spoke up, "could you mute the TV?"

Grisha, who had the remote in hand, looked at his son from his position in the recliner, eyes narrowing in suspicion, but complied anyway, the room falling silent. Eren fidgeted slightly in his seat as attention turned to the couple on the love seat, and Levi cleared his throat and sat up straighter.

"I have something to tell you," Levi began, his voice giving nothing away with its monotonous tone, unwavering as he continued, "or, really, the both of us have something to announce."

Carla gave a small, disbelieving chuckle. "I knew there was a reason we were all invited here."

"Mom," Eren whined, sighing heavily. "It's all good news, don't worry."

Levi looked to Eren, and Eren looked to him, he brunet's heart pounding impossibly fast in his chest, his breaths picking up in speed as well as his nervous fidgeting.

"We're engaged," Levi stated, voice flat as if it was no big deal. Eren bit his lip in anticipation, moving his hand from where it was hidden between the two of them, showing off his golden ring to both the parents.

There was a beat of silence until Carla squealed loudly, practically falling off the couch and barreling over to the two boys, tackling the two in a bear hug and squeezing them tightly. Levi's mother followed suit not one second later, both mothers in tears of excitement and joy.

"Oh my gosh, my baby is getting married!" Carla cried happily. "I can't believe this, oh my gosh!"

Eren couldn't help but let out a pained chuckle, his air supply being squeezed out of him by the two women that were clinging to him and Levi. Levi, other other hand, couldn't do anything, effectively pinned down in their arms.

"Dad, help us out here," Levi rasped, his mother's grip seeming to tighten by the minute, until both weights disappeared completely a second later. When Levi could catch his breath, he saw both fathers holding the ecstatic women back, a smile on both their faces.

"Congratulations, boys," Grisha spoke, chuckling. "It took you two long enough to tie the knot."

Eren could only let out happy tears and hug Levi close.

Calling up every one of their friends and telling them over the phone was a bit of a different story.

For one, they weren't there to tackle them and render them breathless, so that was a plus, but it didn't help the earful of excitement from them.

Levi called up Erwin first, telling him the news about how he finally worked up the courage. Erwin replied by giving a deep chuckle and congratulating the two.

Eren called both Armin and Mikasa, who were actually with each other at the time, and couldn't contain his laughter when Armin literally fainted from excitement. Mikasa chuckled as well from the other line, and offered her own congrats on both her part and Armin's behalf as well.

Then, the dreaded phone call the two did not want to make.

Hanji Zoe.

"We're doing this together, I'm not dealing with her shit alone," Levi stated as he switched the phone onto speaker, and promptly turned the volume down as low as it would go on the phone.

"Hello, my dearest Levi!" Hanji greets, the grin evident in her voice. "And what do I owe the pleasure to this lovely phone call?"

"We have something to tell you, Hanji," Eren spoke up.

"Oh, I didn't realize Eren was here as well!" She paused. "What sort of 'news' is this?"

Levi huffed a sigh, preparing himself. "Eren and I are engaged."

To say that Hanji screamed loudly was an understatement. Even with the phone's volume on low, both males winced when she let out that ear-piercing shriek.

"Oh my gosh, I can't believe this!!!!" The ecstatic brunette squealed into the phone, and Eren could almost see the drool of excitement sliding down her chin. The two gave her a minute to yell out in excitement before she calmed down a bit. They explained the details of how it went and such, Hanji exclaiming at each.

"You two have got to let me help plan the wedding!" Hanji stated loudly.

"Hell no," Levi immediately denied her, shaking head head sharply. "The last thing I need is to spent thousands of dollars on a wall-sized portrait, which you'd probably do."

"But that portrait would be so beautiful!!" Hanji argued.

"Maybe she could help us, Levi," Eren spoke up. "I mean, I have no idea how to plan a wedding, and I doubt you know much about them yourselves. Having her help us out might not be so bad."

"Yeah, what Eren said! Oh, please, Levi, let me help you guys!"

Levi was silent for several moments, heated gaze pointed sharply at Eren. After a minute more, he sighed, giving in. "Fine, but we get the final say in everything, and you better not sneak in anything without our consent first."

"You have yourself a deal, my friends!"
